Good post! I forgot all about that one. Thanks for the info.Mosley was offered a fight with Cotto at Madison Square Garden to take place on 13 June 2009, but he turned it down on the grounds that Cotto would have home town advantage there, and he was worried that he'd be robbed. He said he'd rather wait until a fight could be made in LA. So Cotto offered Clottey the same date instead.
Thanks!

honestly i still dont see floyd pot shotting mosley for a win
even a 37 year old mosley still throws in combinations, ask margarito who has a ****n steel beard if mosley hits hard...Comment

I didn't look at the punch stats...but to me Cotto clearly won. Mosley hardly landed any clean blows. Heck it looked like Mosley was on the verge of getting knocked out. He looked tired as hell through out most of the fight as well. I had it 8 rounds to 3 with one round even. Round 4? That was a CLEAR Cotto round imo. I mean he was catching him with cobinations to the head and body that round while Mosley was just trying to hit him with single bombs that either missed, or hardly did any damage. Same in round 6 as well. (don't remember round 8 atm) I think you need to rewatch the fight lol. Cotto was frustrating Mosley like hell.Have you seen the punch stats? Fights aren't scored on punch stats, but still, Mosley landed a lot more so-called power punches than Cotto, and to say that the guy who landed more power punches was totally dominated is ridiculous. And at the time, almost every boxing writer said it was extremely close, and some scored it to Mosley.
In terms of rounds, Cotto clearly won rounds 1, 4, 6, and 8. Mosley clearly won rounds 2, 10, and 12. The other 5 rounds were all very close and could be scored either way. That means a score in favour of either fighter is perfectly legitimate.Comment

very good comment and very true! This comment is going back to I believe the second post where someone called mosley a senior citizen... This perplexes me as he backs up with the comment that mosley has had 17 months off or something around that realm of time off. PBF was out of the sport for what? A three year hiatus before he came back... why arent people talking about his potential ring rust as well as a counter argument against floyd? I'd have to say in the past three years mosley has clocked in more professional rounds than Money mayweather has... is it any wounder how much you guys hate floyd and can't get the facts straight... I am just here as a fan of the sport, but the side taking is reminding me of cheerleaders at football games just rooting for the home team, rather than appreciating the hard work all these guys (both fighters) put in to giving us a good show.Comment

srl knew how to box and he wasnt boring, neither was duran, hagler or hearns.to call floyd boring just because he actually knows how to box is past crazy. the sport of boxing is not like you you see on rocky movies. if floyd is so scared and has a glass jaw then he is prime for a big loss. im tired of all the pac fans calling pbf boring. the sweet science is full of great champs that box in the same manner as floyd.once floyd beats shane and then defeat the rest of the welter division you can call him boring all day. just make sure you also call him what he deservs one of the all time greats.
or shane, vernon forrest or roy jones.
i respect floyds ability, he is a defensive master, an accurate puncher, a great boxer, but he is boring as ****. he couldnt even pull the trigger to attempt to get jmm out of there, he threw a few check hooks, but didnt have the fire or ability to get him out...
hmmm...maybe floyd is past his prime, i mean how often does he throw combinations anymore?
he more pot shots his way to victory...
so, yes, he is boring.Comment

I made sure I put in 154 to make sure my post had the truth and not spin it around like i've seen a lot of people do in posts. Margarito moved up because he had a NC with Santos previously and Santos couldnt make 147 anymore. I did say Margarito would be the more competitive fight. The loss is still relevant in decreasing his value a bit. So I do agree that he was turned down because of the high risk low reward. Mayweather got the De La Hoya fight taking the low risk high reward route in Baldimir and gaining the linear championship. I didn't put in Clotty because it was after like you stated. Your reply had a lot of good info in it. I got a question for you. How do you think a fight between Martinez and Margarito goes today?Thats all I needed to read. I knew someone would bring that up. That loss was at 154, and had nothing whatsoever to do with 147. Period.
On the bold and underline. Did you know that Margo was supposed to fight Mayorga after the Forrest rematch? Then Spinks? Then Zab? Then Baldie? Every person that held that belt was approched by Top Rank. They all turned Margo down (high risk low reward). You can't make people fight you. The funny thing to me is, people always talk about Winky, and how he was ducked for so long, but when you talk about Margo, no one believes it. Crazy.
So to answer your question, Six heads (a legit fighter and champ), Diaz, Martinez, Gomez, and yes Cintron. Also Clottey after Floyd moved on. So yeah, the man was legit. At the time.Comment

I sometimes wonder why I bother getting on some of these threads having to read idiotic posts like this one. I'm not gonna turn this into a Cotto bash thread. But it wasn't Mosley who needed canvass wiping time like Cotto did from Benji Estevez. Only a fanboy thinks that Cotto dominated that fight.I didn't look at the punch stats...but to me Cotto clearly won. Mosley hardly landed any clean blows.
