Mayweather Legacy question: Would Margarito have been a better win than Baldomir

Your right man but my thing is this guy got caught cheating and people still support him. Now if he would have knocked Mosley out that night everybody would have been talking about how great he is but he would have had to cheat to do it you know what im saying? And nobody would known so I just feel Margarito should be banned from boxing for life

Margarito was one of the most avoided fighters at that point and time, and it's no surprise Floyd turned him down, to face bladomir for the undisputed title, at WW. I've always said that Margarito was the tougher fight. He probably wouldn't have beat Floyd, but he would have pushed him to the limit, and gave the fans a much more exciting fight. Margarito's ablity to take a punch, as well as his willness to come forward an his over-all work rate would have put Floyds skills to the ultimate test. Especially considering Margarito has good stamina and will be there all the way to the end, that an his physical size as well as his undaunting will would have made it a very tough fight IMO. A much tougher fight then Bladmire, and a better win to boot.

It think Margarito should have got the fight ahead of Baldomir but with what happened between Arum And Mayweather at the time it made it easier to work with Baldomir's promoters than Margarito's.

At the time Baldomir was the Man who beat the Man and you have people like Brian Kenney saying stuff on ESPN that Mayweather should have fought Baldomir or Hatton instead of Judah, Am not really fuss that he didnt fight Margarito at that time but i think he should have fought Margarito and cotto after the Hatton fight or after the Margarito/Cotto fight (Winner).

Personally I don't think it's any coincidence that the two guys Mayweather supposedly ducked, Margarito and Cotto, are Top Rank fighters promoted by Bob Arum.

You can't predict how your opponents going to do five fights down the line.. At the time it was a better choice for Mayweather.

Did Floyd make the right decision fighting the lineal champ Baldomir rather than fighting Margarito? What would have been better for his legacy. Think back to that time and the status that Baldo and Marg had.

Him ducking Cotto is complete ****......Floyd fights fighters when they are at the peak of their stardom, or when he feels the fight would generate the most money....if Cotto didn't get ****d by Pac, you can bet Floyd's team would have put together a Cotto vs Pac fight....even Roger said this before that fight (cotto v Pac) went down....the only fight that made sense for Jr was to face the winner............

Margarito ended up being the better of the 2, but at the time it made much more sense to fight Baldomir. If would have been a big boost for Mayweathers resume tho if he had taken Cottos 0.

In todays boxing BELTS dont really mean much today so I would honestly say a fight with Margarito would of looked nice. Yes Baldomir was considered the welterweight champion but the guy had like 80 loses lol overall BOTH fights under Floyd's resume would of looked good...
