Tommy "The Hit Man" Hearns vs Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr.

pumping the jab or doubling the jab as long as he throws it stiff would make it harder for your opponent to time it. But you cannot double it every time you have to mix in the double jab to change the pattern of your punches. Boxing is all about timing and movement. If your opponent can read your movement regardless you are going to countered. Floyd is the master of reading his opponent and timing you with counters. This ias a great debate and fantasy match up....LeftyComment

Good post, I think people have really forgot how good floyd is or just don't want to acknowledge it. This would no doubt be a close fight and what would if floyd were to edge this out stamina would be a big part of that plus floyd is really good at closing the distance and fighting on the inside when it suits him. The guy who said one round KO...kill yourself...lol. There is no way anyone could pull that off. Just being rangy and having pretty good power does not mean he's going to just be teeing off on floyd. I do see hearns being the most difficult matchup for floyd fantasy wise but it won't be a blowout and i don't see this ending in a KO.I think it's a pretty close fight. Of course we get the usual flood of morons who haven't seen Tommy fight but figure anyone vs Floyd is bound to result in a knockout loss for "Gayweather", but if you think about it, pretty good clash of styles. Hearns has the power to take Floyd out, but you can't just stomp out a guy as crafty and sound as Floyd.
I see Floyd being very cautious here, moving, mostly circling away from Tommy's right but changing it up, looking for the moment Tommy shifts position to jump in and potshot, I see Tommy asserting himself but not jumping in, knowing Floyd can counter him. If Tommy wins by knockout it is by breaking Floyd down to the body, then putting his foot on the pedal late and taking him out. But problem is Tommy was never a strong finisher down the stretch, and Floyd is damn smart, I'm going against a knockout here.
It's pretty close. Tommy controls it at times when he keeps Floyd re setting himself by using the jab, and keeping Floyd wary of his power, but Floyd is able to defend against most of the shots and move in to land clean ones and clean counters of his own at times. Tommy might fade a little down the stretch but Floyd isn't powerful or aggressive enough to KO him, but he is good enough to take those rounds off Tommy, where the jab isn't snapping like it was at the start and Floyd is able to dance to his own tune a little more. Look it is really very close, a draw wouldn't be out of the question, I actually see it going somewhat similar to DLH-Mayweather but much rougher for Floyd and way less standing in range like he did vs Oscar.
If I have to pick a winner, I say Tommy wins on points, being that he had Floyd on the defensive most of the time, and was able to control him for large stretches with the jab. But I'm not ruling out a draw or a skin of his teeth win for Floyd.
One of the most interesting fights I have ever thought about really, two really great fighters, two awesome styles, it would be more tactical than all out war, but very good to watch.Comment

Chups my man read the quote in your sig personally I think there are some fly looking Pinoy women. The mix of features in them are ****ing. So I don't know what that arsehole was talking about he is hating because he found some Pinoy who was hung like a mule ****ing his wife when he came hom one day.
That being said Floyd can win alot of fights on paper but it remains to be seen what he can do at welter weight. Hopefully Mosley will test those waters...As for this thread I am seeing alot of good chatter and I hope the discussion on Monday is as good...LeftyComment

I agree...he has it all vs. Mayweather. THe reach, the jab, the mean cross and the strength. It could be like HEARNS vs DURAN fight.
The masterful Leonard did the unthinkable to beat Hearns in the late 14th round TKO rally but I don't think Mayweather has that offensive firepower, combinations and offensive intelligence.
Though I think Mayweather could be the greatest master of defense with an asterisk because it wasn't really tested against great opponents. But technically, Mayweather's defense looks impeccable.
Just that a Tommy Hearns' offense and advantages in size, reach, strength, speed....and the mean right cross can somehow land, some way and when it does, there's really no way to stop him unless your name is Sugar Ray Leonard.Comment

And when was the last time Floyd fought someone his own size at the proper weight and in their prime that you thought had a legitimate chance of beating him let alone stopping him?. Right here are I am asking you to debate on a fantasy match where both guys are at the same weight and in there prime physical condition...LeftyComment

Yo Gunzz what up playa? I would say Chico Corrales and maybe De La Hoya at 154. I got to give him credit for his fight resume below 140. At this point you are talking about a WW fight with the Motor City Cobra Tommy The HitMan Hearns. Honestly I do not think Floyd could hurt Tommy at 147. Tommy would use his jab and throw blows to the body to slow Floyd down. Hie would would defintely win early rounds on work rate alone. After about 5 rounds or so Floyd would be forced to fight and need to get inside Tommy's chest. I think after about 11 rounds and remember this would be a 15 rounder Floyd would be battered and beat up to a TKO.And when was the last time Floyd fought someone his own size at the proper weight and in their prime that you thought had a legitimate chance of beating him let alone stopping him?.
