I remember there being a lot of fuss about Khan not shirking his mandatory responsibilities when he faced Salita. There was no talk about delaying the fight there because it needed marketing. Could it be that Khan knew Salita was a bum and Maidana is dangerous ??? IMO the Salita fight needed more marketing than the Maidana fight. Salita has only beaten bums Maidana has a high profile now having beaten Ortiz.

LOL@ This guy bull****ting.. Build this fight up? This fight will NEVER be big and they know it. They're just stalling because they're hoping Maidana will lose which is a very good possibility then they wont have to fight him or they're hoping Khan gets so big in the US that he wont have to fight Maidana. They are blatantly ducking Maidana and it's obvious.

Mandatory means mandatory. Fight Maidana or give up the belt.

I agree! Now, my question is the following. If he chooses to fight someone else as a warm-up fight, does he hold on to the title? I find this to be unfair since there are other fighters next in line that want to fight for this title. So, yeah..fight or just give up the damn belt! He is stalling and that **** is unfair for the fighters that are next inline. He needs to do one or the other: fight or vacate!

This fight needs to happen next just like Gamboa Vs. Lopez should happen next, everything else is just the promoters trying to protect their meal ticket. Promoters need to stop trying to build stars and just let the fighters fight and let the top guys come out on top, it's not like these guys ain't ready for it.

I've a funny feeling that it might be Khan Vs Marquez and Maidana Vs Malignaggi on the undercard..

Malignaggi has the tools to beat maidana..solid chin and slick fast boxing (he'll beat him just like kotelnik did). If paulie beats maidana then he gets to fight Khan and everyone forgets about Maidana.

And on the otherhand Paulie is made for Khan as he has no power. Hence at the end of it all Khan gets to avoid Maidana and comes up looking good.

That would be a great card and if the winners face each other I doubt the fans would complain, I think Paulie might be fighting Berto next though.

chilly9876, I think you might be onto something. Maidana has limited boxing ability and can be beaten by a "boxer" with a solid chin as proved by his fight with Kotelnik.Malignaggi has a good chin and more than enough skills to beat Maidana. Once Maidana is beaten all fights with Khan are off and the threat of a Prescott type KO is avoided.

If there are a regular champion and an interim champion within the same weight category of the very same sanctioning body, they MUST fight each other to show the boxing world who is THE champion. That is all there is to it. Build the fight up? How silly! Let them fight each other and the one who emerge victorious will be a star.
