    Alberto Cortes

    Anthony Stephens

    Luis Campas

    Oba Carr

What do these guys have in common? They all knocked down the great Felix Trinidad only to get KTFO!

You can't compare a guy with so little experience to a hall of famer. I don't care if you are just looking at his first fight, first 16, or last fight. It's not a fair argument.

If he leaves himself open against a heavy puncher he will be seriously hurt. That's all I'm saying.
Every fighter at the point of where Gamboa's career is right now can be said to have flaws, it's normal. But it's also foolish to simply ignore or downplay his performances as of late making it seem like if and when he takes an L it'll be a "I TOLD YOU SO" rant that's truthfully pointless. I watch Boxing for entertainment, not to nit pick what they might or might not do in their careers.

          Of course you can.

Was Bernard Hopkins a HOFer in his first 16 fights? No he wasn't.

Did he lose his first fight? Yes he did...

And how did his career turn out? Just fine.

What is your intention in this thread? To prove getting knocked down means he will turn out to be nothing?

          Because it's a pointless argument.

It's not to prove that he will turn out to be nothing. It's just to make a point that everyone is ignoring. Get off his jock and give the kid some time to prove himself against a high level opponent. And I still don't see how comparing Bernard to Gamboa makes any kind of sense.

Just like I don't see how pointing out that he's been knocked down makes any kind of sense.

              So what?

What does it mean? What does it prove?

              Nothing.

Man y'all some whining bytches. The guy just said he's chinny....might mean nothing, might mean he'll get KTFO by someone when he steps up. Either way I like fighters like him, that'll go down and get up and go right back in the trenches.

Sugundo Macardo?? Ever heard of him. He dropped Hopkins twice in one fight.

Somebody give me the name of the guy who dropped Winky over an over.

I can tell you now that one of this knockdowns was against Darling Jimenez and it was more of an issue with the position of his feet than the damaged caused by a punch. Another one of those knockdowns was from an elbow.
The highlighted sentence is particularly accurate. I'll go one step further: Yuriorkis Gamboa loves to put on a show. In his effort to make a spectacular display, he sometimes gets too reckless.

Every one of Gamboa's four knockdowns are on Youtube for all to see. In my opinion, he's never been hurt. They've all been flash knockdowns, of the sort that Tito Trinidad was prone to. In every case Yuri has come roaring back to demolish his opponent.

I don't like the fact that Gamboa's gone down so many times so early in his career, but for the moment it's more of a concern than a problem. We'll see what happens when he gets hit flush by a guy like Juanma Lopez.

You said Gamboa was knocked down a few times early in his career.

I said Hops lost a fight early in his career.

                      IT MEANS NOTHING.

Hopkins got dropped twice by a nobody.

Winky got dropped by a nobody.
