I agree, Rigo is the best of the recently defected Cubans. It's a damn shame that he'll never see his professional potential fulfilled, as he's probably too old to mount a HOF career.

Despite being my #2 pick in terms of talent, Gamboa is my favorite to watch. He's just explosive. It's been said many times already, but he really does remind me of a mini-Mike Tyson. Watching Tyson's early fights, you see clear similarities in aggressiveness, athleticism, hand speed, movement and (relative) power. I'm beginning to think that Yuri consciously emulates Tyson, the way he stalks around the ring and consoles his beaten opponents.

But back on topic, I think Yuriokis Gamboa's future is extremely positive. For the moment, I'm not sold that a few early flash knockdowns are anything to worry about. Whether he makes it to the top might be in question, but not the excitement he brings into the ring every time out.

Not a big deal to me anymore. Gamboa is best doing what he does now. As long as he remembers to use his feet and move in and out like Manny does.

Im not saying he was out on his legs but he was def stunned to the point he held on to catch a break
Hmm, yeah I have every gamboa fight on DVD I'd like for you or anyone else to point out which fight he was hurt.

Each knockdown he got up on the count of "1" and looked fine and proceeded to fight like nothing happened.

So for you to say he's been hurt "like 3 times" I wonder if you're confused...

Gamboa has been knocked down but let's remember, the pro game is very different than the amateur game.

If he can be smart in the ring, not get to anxious, he should be fine. I think the fight with Lopez will be great though and I wouldn't underestimate Lopez, to me he seems to be the more rounded fighter and Gamboa won't be able to just out speed Lopez the way he has done to all of his opponents.

Really? The same guy that didn't use his jab against Mtawga and just brawled with him then almost got knocked out?

Gamboa has tightened up his deffense and doesn't stay in the pocket too long, as long as he can do that he'll be ok. LOL at Rigondeaux better than Gamboa.

I have to agree that he has never been hurt.

He isn't glass jawed, he has few problems with his balance, that can cost him a decision in a big fight against Juamma.

Much of that comes from his arrogance. He actually has a decent defense, but when he is ahead in fights he gets over confident, leaps in to engage, leaves his hands down and taunts his opponents. It leads to him getting caught with some good shots and dropped. I think he has actually shown a solid chin to get up from some of the shots that dropped him, and he has tightened his D and toned down the showboating as of late.

yeah that is a completely ridiculous statement. Gamboa is by far the more rounded and polished fighter.

JuanMa gets by on his power, chin and heart,
