Let me make and analogy of mayweather...

Ever play fight night? On occasion you play people who have a high DNF%, meaning people who turn off their machines before they lose... It is very consistent that if you get a guy that is above a certain % that he will turn off the game. They value their record on fight night more then the readily visible % of fights they quit. I think if Floyd played fight night he would be the type to value his record above his quitting %...

Floyd wasn't afraid of Margarito per se.

But, what he did do was chose Baldomir over him.

Lineal Champion or not we all now Margarito would have been the tougher fight, and Floyd chose Baldomir. He had a choice and he made his descision.

That's all there is to it.

Considering the amount of money Mayweather made and the HISTORY he made with Oscar...HE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!

But unfortunately every fan don't understand the BUSINESS SIDE OF BOXING, they just want to see the fights they want to see, they could careless about the Fighters and how much money they are getting and how they are going to feed their family

I was watching a video with Wilfredo Benitez on youtube and the current state that he is in right now...WOW I really can't blame fighters for trying to get the most money possible AS SOON AS THEY CAN! Boxing is a BRUTAL SPORT and the long term side effects from taking blows to the head IS NOT GOOD!

A beast? Horus is an idiot with an agenda.

That same article that Horus posted, that has "Arum own words" Arum mentions that if Floyd wanted he would have given Floyd an extension for his buyout deadline.

Meaning Floyd could have fought Margarito for 8mil and then bought out his contract with top rank and then fought Oscar without Top rank involvement. Funny that Horus doesn't mention that.

We can't pick and chose on what to believe from Arum. If you going to show a link of an article make sure you talk what the whole article mentions. Especially if you want to show this as some kind of "facts".

The choice was much more complex than this guy or that guy, especially considering Arum and GBP beef at that point. There is no way Arum offered that money for a fight that really didn't have big appeal (at that point) with no strings attached which would have meant no Oscar which was the big prize, that money was offered basically to fuck Oscar but Floyd didn't bite and in the end he was the one that made out.

If Margarito was not with Top Rank and Baldomir was I think the situation would be 100% reversed.

It wasn't that much more complex really.

That maybe, we will never know.

But, I believe if Floyd wanted the fight he could have gotten it. But, he chose Baldomir. Like I said in the other thread. I don't really blame him.

But, Margarito was the toughest option available.

It is a fairly complex situation, with no less than 4 parties who had issues with each other to varying degrees (Floyd, Arum, GBP and Al Haymon).

I don't think Arum would offer that sort of money with no strings, plus there was a limited window which Arum says could be extended but Floyd plan was to fight Oscar that fall, Oscar decided he didn't want to fight that fall once all that came out it was kind of late to go back to Arum to fight Margarito.

It is what it is though and it is in the past I would like to read a book on that whole mess as I think it would be fairly interesting.

Marg might have been the tougher option, but that's using hindsight. At the time, most people were calling Mayweather a coward because he chose Judah over the guy who beat Judah, the lineal champ Baldomir. Of course now after all is said and done Baldomir is a bum but at the time that's the fight people were demanding, even more then Marg. I remember this clearly, not until after he beat Baldo badly did people start jumping on the Marg bandwaggon.
