Antoher thing that isn't mentioned in the opening post is Arum wanted Margarito Mayweather August 12 and at the time Mayweather De La Hoya was still a possiblity for September.

But I'm baffled on how allegedy the guarantee for Margarito was more then Hatton and Cotto.
