the man is 28 years old.....if he hasnt developed all of that yet then chances are he wont.....

this kid is good but he is merely 17-0 ...he would have to get at least 20 more wins under his belt to even come close to being considered for the HOF..with the way boxing is these days he will maybe fight 2 times a year...he will be 38 years old if he fights 2 times a year and gets 20 more wins.....with all of those technical flaws you mentioned..I dont see him fighting till 38 years of age all while being dominant

interesting you are comparing 2 different things, if gamboa turned pro at 20 like roy then you can compare the two carrers but since gamboa turned pro 2 years ago it is a compleatly different story, and sorry the skills are apperent to anyone who knows what they are looking at. i would ask you to name any other fighter who has that kind of speed, reflexes and ease of movement but i already know the answer NONE! roy had more time in the pro game to establish himself gamba is just getting started

I agree with virtually everything you've said. But here's what's going on: Many people are excited about Gamboa because he's downright electrifying to watch. Every now and then a fighter comes along that captures the fans' imaginations...Yuri Gamboa is one of those fighters. He has his flaws; they've been pointed out many times. He also has undeniable talent. Gamboa is lighting fast with his hands and otherwise. He possesses an overall athleticism that is rare among boxers. He throws coordinated punches in bunches with real force. And he seems to carry that elusive one-punch KO power that makes many marquee fighters.

Gamboa might get "exposed" sometime down the line...then again, he might not. He wouldn't be the first fighter with flaws who carved out a great career on the strength of his inordinate physical gifts and determination. I share the excitement about him, yet I remain cautiously optimistic about his chances. I'll be far more convinced when he has a few more wins against quality opposition. For the moment, I'm content to watch his exciting victories and his professional development. Yuriorkis Gamboa is what boxing needs more of....

diff. is roy jones was also aided by a lack of quality opposition. like you said, i'll be more convoinced if gamboa can beat the likes of a chris john or a juanma lopez, but at this point, dude has flaws that are too visible to get carried away about his future, as many ppl are right now.

the point is, he has no wins over anybody quality, and i'm not convinced dude has the skill to gut out a tough fight that goes into rounds 10,11,12- which is where he'll find himself against the likes of john and juanma.

and i say this, as unbiased as possible, as the guy trains around the corner from where i work, and i've drove past the dude while he was running....he's an exciting, young fighter, but let's not annoint the guy HOF until he proves it.

just watched the gamboa fight and i have to say that was an amazing display of athleticism! the speed, the power, the movement was ****in beautiful to watch, he showed poise and persistent percision to destroy a limited but very tough fighter. i am not being biased because he is Cuban too, i am just stating the facts because they are plain to see and i can not wait to watch him fight again because just like rjj it does not matter who he is fighting because he is the show all by himself

Ok ok!! Get down off those nuts!! Kid's got 17 fights. Let's see what he lloks like in another year or so and maybe we can start comparing him to folks who have some serious boxing accomplishments under their belts. but for now...

your joking right? 17 fights? only 17 pro fights he has been a world class fist fighter all of his life. how many fighters have over 300 am fights win the gold and many other am tournys. and i call it like i see it, and just like roy nobody can fight like gamboa and thats a fact. and sorry kid im not on anyones nuts, im a fighter and give credit when credit is due. win or lose i will watch
