Lopez defense is going downhill every fight and his wildness offense is increasing every fight. Lopez only hope is counterpuncher Gamboa, but he is droping to frecuently his right hand, so i dont see his counter so promising in a fight vs Gamboa. Anyways i am puertorrican and I will be routing for Lopez.
I'm PR and will say Gamboa will knock the s*** out of Juanma. Gamboa has better composure and increasingly more power and that will spell trouble for Juanma. Juanma seems too smug and nonchalant entering what will be his career defining fight.

In what way did he show a regression of skills?

Agreed. Juanma also seemed slower in this fight, he was getting counter bombed too.

The PRs can't realize that Lopez is an ordinary fighter. He's not a bum, but he's also not this devastating monster that you all make him out to be.

Your'e right. Lopez loves to land his big shots from the inside and doesn't try enough to land a straight right hand where he can then come inside and try to finish his opponnet off. He was doing this vs Gerry Penalosa when he should have just use his range even if Penalosa was in the ropes he should've backed off.

Lopez likes to slugs it out too much. Luevano and Penalosa aren't big punchers, but Gamboa is. He can't play that game and he wasting too much energy early on. Sometimes one good shot can do more than a volume of shots that can only tired you out and make you defenseless making you too exausted to protect yourself.

Defense. He was constantly getting countered and swinging open. He had the luxury of walking down a boxer with little movement laterally and dictating the range, but still got hit with foolish shots.

Styles make fights. Luevano is a completely different style of fighter to Gamboa. I dont think he'll try walking down Gamboa, if he boxes from range, Gamboa will run into his shots.

Exactly. Lopez showed some patience against Lueva, and maybe that was the plan knowing Lueva couldn't hurt him, but he didn't really show he could match Gamboa in the power and speed department.
