My point wasn't just about his quickness. He's more cautious and is picking his moments better. Mtagwa was open to be hit a lot in the second, but Gamboa didn't just jump in a bulldoze him like he might have in the past. He picked his shots, kept his distance, and was nowhere near a reckless as he was. Juanma won't be able to go 12 rounds boxing with Gamboa. Gamboa's conditioning is visibly better than Juanma. If it goes later in the rounds Juanma will be in more trouble than Gamboa.
Gamboa > Lopez, and it isn't even close.

We agree more than you think. I saw much more discipline in Gamboa in that he wasn't nearly as wild. But wild, he still is, and he the caliber of opposition increases dramatically going up against Juanma. My point wasn't just about his quickness. He's more cautious and is picking his moments better. Controlled agression is Gamboa's key to victory.
Better boxing is Juanma's.
The one who executes their key better wins.
I don't, for one second, believe it's a clear-cut victory for either one fighter though, as many on these boards would.
It will be one hell of a fight when it happens, though, I'm sure you and I also agree on that.Comment

Yeah, I agree with you on that one. I'm sure there will be highlight reel material in abundance. Possible FotY in the works if this fight gets made. But it also happens to one of those fights that can end quickly and abruptly at any moment. We agree more than you think. I saw much more discipline in Gamboa in that he wasn't nearly as wild. See? You and I are proof that sensible conversations can still happen here on these threads without silly cussing and smilies.
And I think this showdown could most definitely warrant FOTY when it happens. I would love to see this go down sometime in April!Comment
