If Floyd moved up in weight and fought a dehydrated, weight drained and never won a big fight De La Hoya, he would be criticized for handpicking a faded opponent.

If Floyd went to 140 and fought IBO Champion Ricky Hatton who had been previously knocked silly into a turnbuckle he'd be criticized as picking the weakest challenge at the weight. Avoiding Tim Bradley, Devon Alexander would not be taken to kindly by the masses.

If Floyd went to welterweight and forced a Post Margarito and post Clottey Miguel Cotto to drain to a 145 Catchweight he would be considered a Fraud and a fake welterweight champion.

If Floyd had 2 close fights with a Mexican warrior like Marquez he would not be let off the hook till he fought him a 3rd time and won clearly. Some would even say he's not undefeated cause he got a gift decision against a Mexican Warrior. like a Castillo perhaps

So simply put, if Floyd followed Pacquaio's route to greatness, he would be considered the biggest Fraud in Boxing. His haters would even come up with names for him like Fraud Gayweather or *****..
The only way to consider Floyd as great if he will beat Pac

Floyd barely broke top 50 in espn's greatest fighters in 2006. albeit pac wasn't on that list yet, but this is way after floyd's best fights.

Pac>PBF. yes floyd fans are butthurt. floyd was so dope back in the day and had so much potential to become one of the best ever. but he decided to try his hardest to preserve the "0" rather than face the best oppenents possible. skill and talent wasted to certain degree.
very sad really to the part of *****s, there dying to see floyd fight the best but floyd was doing everything to dodge them. hahaha

I sometimes rip Cotto, Pacquiao and even Juan Ma Lopez for the fights they take. But what separates them from Floyd is they don't have the lead way to fight whoever they want to fight like Floyd does. Case in point. Amir Khan is an example of a guy who just broke away from Frank Warren and he is still gonna choose a safe career path. When you have someone like Arum telling you to fight this and that guy, you don't have a lot of choice but to do what he says. Floyd ducks fighters without any promoters' help just like Amir Khan has now.

I think Floyd haters would find a reason to hate, no matter what, so I agree in that sense.

But Pac's wins can't be completely trivialized like that in my mind, despite how dissappointed I might be with Pac's decisions recently

Isn't that what you guys already say? The difference between May n Pac is Pac has always been the underdog. Nobody expected him to beat these greats in such brutal fashion, let alone win. Pacquiaos skills were limited until after the first Morales fight, that's why the masses give him the credit he deserves. And maybe you should start too.
