Angulo would **** up Vanes, I see Vanes being put in soft again. Guy has been a pro for almost 5 years now and still hasn't fought a top 30 guy. I see a John Duddy in his future, maybe Yori Boy Campas.

Ouma had a big advantage in experience, having fought far better opposition than Vanes, and that showed during the fight. But Ouma seemed hurt and very tired in the last 30 seconds of the 10th, I think if it had been a 12 round fight, Kassim would have been stopped.

This fight gives Vanes valuable experience he's going to need at the highest level.
good fight for vanes...despite flash knockdown, just that, a flash in a pan, confirmed as such with the kung fu flip from the canvass...u cannot do that if u were in any way shape or form hurt or even dazed...it is a cerebellar impossibility...

Vanes is nothing special, he was lucky that he was fighting an past his prime Ouma that never had any real power

Agreed... Now I was at the fight and have to say the Scores were too wide ... I had a 95-94 for vanes. This was a valuable lesson for vanes, one that he didn't expect. I know everyone wants to bash vanes for this performance but atthe end of the day he was fighting a revitalized ouma, this was more if the ouma of ok'd vs te more recent ouma who had been struggling. Again good lesson for vanes but please don't act like this is the end of vanes evryone champion out there has had such a fight and has bounced back stronger!!! Remember delahoya vs sturm? Knockdown happen, heck angulo and Kirkland have been dropped several times and nobody makes a big stink about those..:

Kassim Ouma is actually NOT shot or "past-prime" at age 31 - he's actually probably near his best.

Interesting how some here at boxingscene are so excited at Erislandy Lara fighting Grady Brewer, who turns 40 this year, calling it a "big step up". If Lara has a difficult fight with old Brewer, they'll call it "a good experience for him". But the same people are extremely hard on Vanes for some reason.

Kassim had a big advantage in experience over Vanes, but Martirosyan's greater talent enabled him to prevail.

I like Ouma alot but his ability to absorb punishment is not the same and his output is no where near. Met the guy a couple of times and I only wish him the best. About the only thing that Vanes had going for him was the 1-2 he was throwing and its nothing special. Vanes crosses his legs too much when he moves to his left, bad habit that is gonna cost him a lot of knock downs if its not correct.

One thing, he did regain concentration during the fight and was able to adjust and follow instructions. Looks like the pressure and the headbutts was getting to him in a point of the fight.

not past his prime??? i think at 31 he is,,,i mean he had lost 4 of his last 5 bouts...and vanes still had trouble with this guy with really no power,no skills, nothing left...i don't see vanes beating martinez or any other champ...

Because Carnivore is lying and probably didn't even watch the fight, let alone score it. His anti-black agenda backfired on him.

Through it all, the series managed to jump out to an impressive start, headlined by junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan overcoming a slow start and a late knockdown to take a hard-fought unanimous decision over former titlist Kassim Ouma.

The bout headlined a televised tripleheader, aired live from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Martirosyan, 153 lb, knew going in that the bout would be the toughest test of his young career, but still struggled early to find his rhythm. Ouma, 150, was in his face from the opening bell, fighting with the will and desire of an ex-champion in search of one last great moment, if not a career revival.

The first couple of rounds saw Ouma charging forward, landing several straight lefts, while Martirosyan fought in reverse with the intention of boxing from the outside. Several two-way exchanges ensued, but Martirosyan’s best moments came often in reaction, landing right hands after Ouma was able to score with left hands down the middle. [Click Here To Read More]
I watched football yesterday and fall asleep during it...

Was the fight worth to check it out... I was interested in Vanes.
