In no way, shape, or form is Hopkins the draw in this fight and even giving him half the purse is rather foolish on Greens part. Hopkins, Jones, and all these old fighters living off the past are delusional if they think they deserve strong purses just because they had impressive resumes. If I were Green I would lowball Hop and offer him 35%, take it leave it because you know he isn't making much more against anyone out there.
Good post, I agree with everything you said.

Hopkins would make more money fight RJJ in a rematch and he knows he can beat RJJ, Green would have home advantage and all the favours on his side, I dont agree with you at all, I think Hopkins accepting 50-50 in the first place with green was crazy.

Green is not going to make anything close to what he would make fighting RJJ or Hopkins in Australia against anyone else apart from fighting Mundine.

Food for thought for the BS morons: Hopkins fought for free in his last fight, and donated his entire purse to his charities to provide money for breast cancer research, and underprivileged children in Philadelphia.

Yes, the same age Hopkins was in 2001 when he beat down Holmes and Trinidad. However, they say Calzaghe was past it at 36 even though he had the biggest win of his career and unified the smw division. A lot of hypocrisy here.

There is no universal standard for expiration dates on boxers.....look at Eric Morales and MAB.
PPL age differently depending on what they go through, how they take care of themselves and genetics. Most top boxers are past it by 36, B-hop is just a very special case. He started boxing late, takes care of himself, and clearly have very good genetics. Its a combo of all three that most just don't have for whatever reason.

When has Green been a draw in his own country when he has not fought mundine or Jones? Fact is Green is not **** anywhere unless he fights an Australian or a legend. Hopkins makes more than Pavlik, but you think he should get 35% against Danny ****ing green. And one more thing. How is Hopkins living in the past since you put him in the category of these old fighters stuck in the past? he man is a top 3 p4p fighter, and is rated number one in his division. I get the feeling you just do not like Bernard Hopkins, like when was the last time Hopkins made a smaller purse than a named opponent let alone a scrub like Green, Oscar De La Hoya.

Of course there is no universal age, but Calzaghe like Hopkins put himself on notice in his 30s, and acomplished his best work in his mid 30s. Guys like Jones, Morales, Tyson and others were hot in their late teens, and did damage in their 20s.

Green is the much bigger draw in this fight. Hopkins is boring and no one pays to see him. Hops is a good way to put people to sleep, not because os his punches but because of his boring ass style.
His style is called "boxing". It's the same reason why you are here - because you are a fan of the sport...or are you just pretending to be?
