i believe bernard priced himself out. roy gave him the oppurtunity to recieve more money than he had ever recieved in his entire career (only to be eclipsed by his DLH fight more than 5 years later)...i remember that interview with merchant, bernard, and roy
BH:'larry, i want the two best p4p fighters to come at a catch weight...'
RJJ:'i'm the champion, my terms are 60/40'
BH:'then what am i?!! if you the champ, what am i?!'
RJJ:'well then 60/40 will get yo ass split...'
BH:'...he don't wanna fight larry...'
RJJ:'...60/40 i'll kick yo ass!!..'
BH:'he don't wanna fight larry....'
that was funny. make no mistake these guys are friends and acknowledge each other at every boxing event.Comment

Yea definately. Hopkins should have graceful that Roy even offered a 60-40 split. It should have been more of a 70-30. In an interview, I read somewhere that Roy believed Hopkins was scared to fight him because he didn't want to take that 60-40, and that would have been the most money Hopkins made at that point. It wasnt definately a money issue for Hopkins because the next couple of fights after he rejected Roy's offer, he made substantially much less than what the 60-40 was intended to be.Comment

Roy said "60/40 and you get your ass whupped". No, Bhop didn't deserve an even split after losing the first one. He lost, he shouldn't start making demands on the purse cut. Zab knew that and he took a 150K purse to get the rematch. but bernard always tried to be the shrewed business man.Comment
