Just because an athlete is great at 1 sport doesnt mean they're great at all of them.

Most of these guys im sure were 2 or 3sport athletes growin up in high school and college, but go pro at the 1 sport they excel at.

Michael jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time but ****** as a baseball player.

You Americans keep getting softer and Eastern Europeans keep getting stronger.

If you're hungry, have a sandwich. I can't imagine any Eastern European with a grandmother that can ever be hungry.

This depends, boxing is not so much about athletism but psychological make up of a person. Boxing as it is does not depend on one aspect of athletism at a superhigh level, but a combination of athletic aspects(like speed of reaction, coordination, flexibility, strength, etc..) on a high but reasonable level. However the psychological(readiness to punish and take punishment is an example) and intellectual(experience, ability to analyze and adopt, even punching as it is is more dependant on the mental ability as a whole) are requiered on a superhigh level. So, if the athletes in question do have these qualities, than they have the potential to be great fighters. If dont, they will likely be ****ed on lower to mid am. level.

PS. I did not actually mean that fighters are smart "academically".

Guys al;l the points you are making saying they cant fight are MOOT. The thread starter said raised form a young age to be a boxer.

In other words how would their athleticism and physical advantages translate to the heavyweight division.

          Jesus...Learn to read.

            LoL @ KG being there

            http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x10...-mcdyess_sport

            ^^ KG backpedals against Mcdyess...

Then he picks on little guys like Calderon and rookies. Is a FLOP.

I think the thing that's intriguing is their size. If these guys were able to make a splash, boxing would be dominated by 6'8", 6'9", 6'10" guys. There would be a big dynamic shift in boxing. And it maybe would validate a super heavyweight division.

Ron Artest said recently that he wants to go pro and have a few fights after he retires from the NBA. Kind of like Kendall Gill did.

So basically he fights a couple of guys with 1 or 2 pro bouts and retires undefeated at 2-0.

                    LOL, KG is a *****.

Speaking of bitches, Carmelo anthony claims to take up boxing but remember a few years back when he was running for his life when 5"6 Nate Robinson was chasing him down to fight. Now that little mutha****a would've made a great boxer. He's tough mentally and physically. Besides, I've read that he incorporates a lot of boxing into his training. He said he loves boxing.

What if Aleksandr Karelin Boxed instead of wrestled?
                      Olympics - 3 Gold
                      World Championships - 9 Gold
                      European Championships - 12 Gold
                      Went undefeated for 13 years
                      6'4
                      290 lbs

I suspect he would have KO'd Bowe, Tyson, Holfield & Lewis all within 6 rounds.

                      Better yet, let's discuss Unicorns
