The Myth of the 140 version of Hatton post-Floyd

You missunderstand, Hatton get called a bum because he is british not because of any ring performance.

Cotto just got his ass whuped and stopped at a weight division higher than Hatton and I don't see anyone saying he's a bum.

Same with Calzaghe, Hamed, Eubank, Benn and others, If any of those fighters where born in mexico they wouldn't catch 1% of teh **** that get thrown at them.

The difference was Cotto beat alot of really good fighters and didnt get starched.

He also had a crowd pleasing style, not a hugfest. I never siad Hatton was a bum but his fights we pretty tedious to sit through.

Hatton is a good name on Mayweathers resume. It may not have been the cleanest/best win but it's still something you could list under his accomplishments. But Manny's victory is more impressive.

Well we're talking from the point of view of a fan, not a manager or the fighter himself. So theoretically we want all the advantages to go to "our" fighter. And fighting at 140 is where Ricky belongs.

And Oscar was total **** at 160 lol. Compared to his 147 self. He was slower, less powerful and probably not as motivated.

It's funny how a couple losses spurned Hopkins to go out and take some big risks, having the best run of his career. Maybe that's what Mayweather needs?

I think Mayweather taking Hattons 0 by punishing him and then knocking him out is more impressive than Pacs win.

Pacs win was very impressive and shocking as well but Hatton was already damaged goods. He was clearly not a good fit with Mayweather Sr. He had been going on Benders and had no confidence anymore. Not to take anything away from Pacs win though. I just think he fought a lesser Hatton, regardless of the weight.

Oscar was good enough at 160 to compete. Thats what p4p fighters do.

Hatton has beaten supposedly more skilful fighters at 140 before. At 147 Floyd was able to handle Ricky's strength and took Hatton's punches far better than any 140lb fighter woruld even in the rounds he was outworked.



yeah I had him in the top 10 pfp, the money thing is annoying because I know he'd fight at 147 again for money even though he wouldn't be effective there against an elite fighter.

I'm not saying Mayweather's win was total crap (I did say it was b/s but it's really the hype about it that was b/s), he beat a good fighter who was fighting above his natural weight but Pacquiao's win was better because he fought him at his most effective fighting weight.

How are you going to have a fighter in the p4p top 10 but then complain because he lost to the best fighter in the world only 1 division above? The fight happened, man up and accept it. Its been 2 years.

You can have the opinion that Pacs fought a better version based on the fact that it was at 140. But You, I, and everyone knows Hatton had no confidence, had been terribly out of shape lately, and had Mayweather Sr. training him for that fight- That was not a better version.

Why is Hattons next fight at 147 then? Fail.

While I agree with u, another reason he will fight @ 147 is cuz he goes up in weight too much between fights so I dont think he can make a healthy 140

If he really can't get down to 140 or at least 143/44 then he should retire, he has no business at 147 and it's not cool to make JMM fight at that weight.
