WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is good friends with Ricky Hatton but it won't stop the two of them from fighting. Khan knows Hatton is very close to retirement and he wants to fight the Manchester star very soon. Khan doesn't think his career will be complete without a showdown with Hatton on his record. He doesn't buy the talk that Hatton is finished. Hatton is rumored to be in the process of planning a ring return for the middle of the year. Khan doesn't want to miss his shot at Hatton before the year is out. Recently the WBA ordered Amir to fight mandatory Marcos Maidana but there has been no official decision on the fight. Amir Khan has to realize that other than a decent payday he gains absolutely nothing else by beating up a shot Ricky Hatton. This ads nothing to his legacy.
However, I don't blame him at the same time if he can get a good payday out of this but don't expect any accolades by beating Ricky Hatton at this stage of Hatton's career.
And when is he going to get back in the ring with Prescott? That's the fight I'd really like to see. Redeem yourself son. -
Why does he want to fight Ricky Hatton? Does Roach have him calling him out? The only reason he's fighting Hatton is for money, nothing more, nothing less.Comment

Can Khan not find an opponent or something, he's repeatedly targeting people in the press.
Hatton will return to fight Marquez after which Khan will want no part of him. Roach just thinks Ricky is there for the taking because Pacquiao beat him, newsflash Freddie, Khan ain't Pac.Comment

I agree with you 100% . Time has caught up with Hatton all that ballooning up in weight and then stripping for a fight does you no good at all and now he is getting on the binging in between fights will show in his performance and punch resistance. If Hatton had looked after his body better he could have extended his career. The two loses have blown the aura of his legacy. It is all about money now. I can't see any other reason why he is thinking of fighting and he does not have it in to avenge his two losses. A loss to Khan will further damage his legacy and a win does not raise it much in the long term. It is all about money now.Comment

Hatton will likely take a tune up fight first if he comes back. So Khan should fight Maidana in the mean time and get his mandatory out of the way.Comment
