    Yes he did.

Former middleweight James Toney beat John Ruiz for a heavyweight title Saturday and sent the two-time belt holder into retirement.

He probably feels like **** right now so of course he's going to say something like that. I don't think we've seen the end of Ruiz.

I honestly do not believe he did that Bad, actually I feel it was ONE of his... OKAY probably his ONLY best performance. But hey, I don't think he should retire, but maybe all the hate has gotten to him? I mean he was in New York, the land of BORICUAS (Puerto Ricans) and he still got booed. Maybe he has finally succumbed to it all.

Anyway, glad to see John retire. He has done a great service to boxing and boxing fans everywhere.

That's exactly what I was gonna say, this Dan Raphael dude must be seriously ****ed up, even worse is the fact that in this article it actually said that ESPN.com scored the fight 115-113 for RUIZ! Jumpin Jesus on a pogo stick how in ****s name can anybody believe that John Ruiz won that fight. And we are supposed to believe this sports company is the worldwide leader in all things sport after they ****ed up the score of a clearly one-sided fight. Now I can see where the commissions are getting the bogus judges for fights nowadays referred by ESPN I'm sure.

Toney does not deserve to retire anyone... I praise Holy for fighting after his devastating loss to Toney.

But now he can hang 'em up

*copied this from another thread, didnt feel like typing it again =)*

I know I will take some **** for this buts it is all IMO-

Good win for Toney. Would he have won if Ruiz had been hugging all night-doubt it. The few times he did clinch, ( few and clinch in a sentence about ruiz says something in itself) I didn't see Toney doing his " amazing inside body work ".

I give ruiz credit, like some people have said, he did the best with what he had. Sure the guy was boring as hell but he really wanted to be there and did what he could. He stood up tonight with Toney and tried to prove that he wasnt a boring fighter, he wanted people to like him, and frankly, I don't blame him. I felt bad for Ruiz tonight, I am not a big fan of his, but I really felt bad for him.

That "knockdown" was utter bull**** and everyone saw it. I was not impressed with Toney at all. He looked like **** imo to be honest.

I am not trying to hate on Toney I just think he is getting to much credit and being too hyped up for the heavyweight division and for this win. If Ruiz had smothered his ass it would have been over. Ruiz did get caught with counters, but if he would have kept that jab in toneys face and smothered him, like usual, I think he could have pulled off a win.

I think Ruiz beat himself tonight, he tryed to change his styles in too big of a fight, against a good foe.

Toney didn't put anyones lights out tonight, I doubt he could have if he wanted to.

Also , as much as I like Roy, he was being an idiot, Vitaly would destroy Toney. He would put T's light out for goddamn sure. With that long jab, that awkward style, a solid chin he would beat T all night long.

Maybe if he looses some weight, looks motivated, and gives a damn, he might stand a chance against Vitaly...a small one..very small.

I agree, I think the KO's are getting to Jones. Ruiz also didn't have any stamina from the beginning bell! He looked slow and exausted right off the bat.

This fight also looked very much similar to the Ruiz/Golota fight. Golota won in almost exactly the same fashion as Toney and was robbed. That is the only thing that pissed me off about this fight. Toney looked like **** and one a close fight. He did win though. He sure the **** don't look like anything special though. Both Klitschko's beat Toney easily, as does Byrd and maybe even Brewster.
