That was in 07 and a different Cotto. Not to mention a different SSM (I don't think brother ****m [better than Roach] was in the corner at the time). If Cotto and Shane fought today, Shane wins with ease. Roach stated Cotto was damaged goods and I doubt they would have picked Cotto had Margarito not taken something out of him. Roach even said that you're never the same after a KO and said time after time Cotto wasn't the same fighter. Mosley was avoided by both Pacquiao and Mayweather because he presents a bad risk/reward ratio compared to JJM and Cotto. When Cotto almost pulled out of the fight because he refused to put his title on the line at 145. SMM stepped up to the plate and offered the same split/ come down in weight/ and put his WBA title on the line. He was ignored. I wouldn't call it a duck but they weren't exactly eager to fight him....That said I do believe Pac will fight SMM if he beats Berto and Pac beats Mayweather...

what about the fact that Pacquiao chose option B. of the following...

Option A.Mosley comes off 2 knock outs over big men like Ricardo Mayorga at [U]154[/U], and welterweight king Antonio Margarito(guy who destroyed Cotto might I add)

Option B.Cotto comes off a win over Michael Jennings(LOL), and barely gets by Joshua Clottey, again many people thought Clottey should have won and Cotto receives yet another Madiso Square Garden gift.

read again from the first page. mosley and cotto are about the same calibre imo. if you consider cotto shot and past prime, i can't imagine what your response would have been if pac agreed to fight mosley at 140 (mosley's offer).

Im not a Pac fan but that is not the logic. The point is he didnt fight Mosley, instead he fought Cotto. Which was hardly some huge step down to imply "ducking". Especially when Cotto holds a victory over Mosley.

If thats the case, I wish more people who "duck" Mosley would then fight someone of Cotto's calibre.

this would be the same thing as pacquio agreeing to fight De La Hoya at 147 and beating him

Oscar coming down to 147= Mosley coming down to 140

and i think Oscar has been through less punishment than Mosley. pac fans would just defend the win by saying "no one made mosley sign the contract, mosley is the one that wanted the fight, it was mosleys fault, blah blah blah"

then this thread is not intended for you, this thread is intended for those pac fans that say Mayweather ducked Mosley but dont care to mention the fact that Mayweather called him out in 06 but Mosley refused. Mayweather then moved up to 154 for the first time to win his 5th division belt fighting the much bigger Oscar adn then beat the guy who took over Tzyus place as the guy who "can beat mayweather", regardless of how overhyped hatton was, you can forget that every one was saying he was the guy to beat Mayweather.
