Cotto needs to stop dropping his hands when he gets hit and keep his guard stiffer. He turns into a kind of shoulder roll sometimes when he's getting hit and his lead hand gets moved out of the way too many times. His composure is one of the things that let him down against Pacquiao, because once he realised he couldn't smash Pac and that Pac's shots really hurt he didn't just recompose himself and box but instead continued to try and prove himself to be stronger in a brawl. He could have done better with movement.

Also I once made a topic about the way that Cotto switches stance for a second when going backwards before switching back to get set and hit. Clearly it is a natural move for him but it can prove dangerous when put under pressure as it takes him longer to get himself set to hit his opponent.

Cotto is a good fighter but definitely needs better training and corner instructions...when I heard Santiago say "you see that he's only got his left hand" after round 1 or 2 I just sat there like Cotto is gonna get punished with poor advice like that and thats what happened.

A new trainer would do him some good as well....

****m Richardson is a good choice.
That would be an amazing combination

would Naz still work with Shane if he works with Cotto?

Cotto should get Nacho Beristan: no language barrier, he can improve Cotto's biggest weaknesses boxing skills and conditioning, and since JMM and Rafa are starting to slow down and retirement might be near Cotto can be Nacho's main focus

Cotto can be taught this though he implemented tactics against Mosley and succeeded, ****m can be a better teacher as well as teach him other things.
I personally don't see him joining up with ****m but it would be great if he did
