As Horus mentioned on my Boxing show last night.....

Cotto should take a year off to go over some boxing basics..like cliching....lol...and he should let his wounds heal....

A new trainer would do him some good as well....

I say racy because I just think a Black trainer would be better on capitalizing on what Cotto does best and what he has left in the tank, basically boxing and as you said clinching (something similar to what Hopkins does). A Mexican or say Trinidad Sr. would push him on his seek and conquer style which I believe is out of Cottos system.

Hopins is 45 and still around.....because he doesnt take un called for punishment....

Yeah Cotto needs a style change.....he can still be aggressive...but he needs to be SMART....

He fights dumb and has no plan b in the ring.....he never clinches...and he has bad stamina.

He can teach Cotto to conserve energy and not run around the ring so much WASTING it.

He can teach Cotto to clinch when hes in trouble rather then bending over and putting his gloves by his head.

He can teach Cotto how to fight on the inside.

He can teach Cotto defensive skills that would help not be so easy to hit.

He can teach Cotto that swinging and hitting your opponents arms when thier belly is exposed for a str8 right is beyond ******.

He can teach Cotto to use jab ALL THE TIME...and to set up everything off it.

He can give Cotto a gameplan in the ring so Cotto isnt backpedaling and running the whole night.

He can put Cotto in a conditionig program that would increase his stamina.

He can put Cotto on a plyometric program to increase speed and explosiveness in the upper and lower body.

He can put Cotto through foot work, coordination and agility drills to improve his agility.
