Not sure if it has been mentioned but Filipino Ceferino Garcia started as a lightweight and ended up winning a title at middleweight. His lowest weight 130-135 when he beat lightweight/welterweight contender Harry Stone, highest weight 166 when he beat the Mexican great Kid Azteca.Comment

Well hopefully what he realized from my post that there other Great Asian fighters that came before Pac. There were even great Filipino fighters that came before. Matter of Henry Armstrong challenged a Filipino for the MW championship. So there is Filipino history even at MW. And, we don't look at Asian as good fighters at the higher weight-class. But, all that is just pure stereotyping.
I am hear to see other peoples views and I learn something. And, that is how I post also to try to point out my views. And, hopefully teach somebody something that they didn't know before...
Garcia defended the title 3 times and lost to Ken Overlin on points.Last edited by pugay_kamay; 12-30-2009, 12:09 PM.Comment

Read the thread & the responses in it by the Historians of Boxingscene for a educated & unbiased account of boxers who have moved up in multiple weight classes & packed on lots of pounds;
Must be all steroid users huh?

Yeah but most of those guys gained weight leading to their demise.Not towards being better,faster and able to absorb heavier punches.
C'mon Foreman gained those weights eating 50 whopper in one sitting!Comment
