There is only one way to push for better cards really. Buying the competition sending the message you are not happy with it..

I doubt Pacquiao - Mallignaggi will do the same as Marquez - Mayweather.

The only reason Marquez vs Mayweather did so much is because it was crammed down everyone's throats. Floyd going on WWE also helped. Marquez helped sell some of that aswell. GBP pulled out every trick in the world just to convince us that Floyd sells more than Manny. Pac vs Cotto sold itself they did'nt need to create all this publicity.
