i wanna see this fight next! martinez is tough and hes willing to fight anybody. i hope vanes is ready. vanes was on the olympic team with andre ward and andre dirrell. i think its about time they got him a big fight.

As a fan of Vanes, I just wanted to mention that this fight is a bit too fast. Cory Spinks is a good step up, Yuri Foreman is a good step up, but Martinez is the best champion in the whole division. I think he should have at least one fight to bridge the gap in competition.

Before putting him up against his divisions best champion and someone who many believe defeated a arguable top 10 p4p guy, they should match him up against a former champion/promising contender. And after that against a lesser champion in the divison.

Vanes is at least two challenges away from Martinez in my book.

On a side note, he was really mean and tried to start a fight with me when I encountered him once on the street. I guess he thinks no adolescent armenian on the streets of glendale actually follows boxing!

All Vanes did was respond back to that foul mouth. Vanes did not even mention Sergio's name when he called out everyone out of respect. But when Sergio responded so desperately, Vanes stood up for himself and responded back.

Its kind of sad that Sergio coming out and challenging a 23 year old who only has 26 fights. When Sergio was 23 and had only 26 fights he was fighting in the back alleys of Argentina being judged and refereed by local bums. Now that he has his WBC title at over 40 fights he wants to challenge someone who has accomplished more than he did when he had as many fights!!!

Sergio doesnt need to worry, Vanes will eventually take that belt and I know Vanes will not back down from any challenge. The time will come when these two will meet and Vanes will take the belt home, believe me!!!

I pretty much agree with you. Although I have to say, he is ready to fight somebody holding a belt. Like I said, Yuri Foreman and Cory Spinks are winnable fights for him at this point. He should have at least one fight at that level, two would be better, before he fights the best champion in the division.

Perhaps I just really wanna see a(n) Angulo/Latimore/Santos vs Vanes match up before I'm truly convinced that he deserves a shot, though me being unconvinced may have something to do with a slight bias I mentioned earlier.
