Some trainers are better in between rounds than the gym, Roach is very good in the gym and tactic-wise but in between round he isnt so much top notch.

the roach fighters owned the first half rounds of those fights (except pac-marquez 2) but faded when there opponents adapted........if you look at those fights hopkins and pac were surviving the 2nd half off there own experience/physical abilities.....roach is very good at coming up with gameplans but when something changes he lacks that extra oomff for his fighters instructions.....

chances are his plans will go haywire march 13.......just a thought........
He was telling them the right things, but they couldn't execute. Oscar couldn't VS Floyd and Hopkins VS Calzaghe. Why? Well both had tough opponents who usually workl out their opponent by the end and are physically very fit, while his fighters themselves were past prime more so.

As for the early Pac fights, he's damn great to get Pac up there tio that level. Pac was raw before and has now learnt to use both hands. I think it was the 2nd Barerra fight where Roach was teaching manny to use both and more angles.

Pac seems like a guy who does listen and now has the skills to do what Roach wants. If Roach told me to do the speedball, I couldn't do it very good. It doesn't matter what you tell someone, if they can't do it, they can't.
