You maybe right in that the vast majority of boxing fans everywhere have come to hate on Mayweather for the simple reason that he doesn't care for their patronage as boxing fans. His only concern is to feed his own greed with their hard earned money and "Cash" as many checks as he possibly can.

Wow, I can see how this will bolster his popularity among fans. Placing money into Mayweather's coffer is like feeding money into a "One-Armed-Bandit." It takes and takes but doesn't give you anything back in return. You've been completely duped! We all have been completely duped by this guy!!!

I understand where you are coming from, but the reality that you (and others) cannot seem to recognise or grasp is that ALL fighters fight for money. Some will consistently fight the best because this is their only way to achieve this, or make a name for themselves. There is a reason "all roads lead to mayweather" and everyfighter from 135 - 154 want a piece of him and for that matter Pacman. Its because these guys are the biggest cash cows in the sport. There is a reason Mosley is desperate to get either of these guys in the ring.....his fortune has decreased by half in recent times.

Pacman is no different. He wanted a $25 million gaurantee before even entertaining the idea of fighting Mayweather. The offer from Hatton's team was almost rescinded because Manny was insisting on more than 50%. These are not the actions of a man who "does not fight for money." The reality as that they all fight for $$ and no one should have a problem with that fact.

Personally i will take Mayweather all day. At least he is open and honest about the fact that it's almost exclusively about the $$. He has the balls to come out and say it, not like these other guys who are afraid of the criticism that comes with making statments like that. Pacman fighting for the people and the boxing fans is a load of garbage. He fights for money FIRST, then maybe those things come into consideration.

      • I have a serious question.

Do pac fans really appreciate the art of boxing or do they just like to see knock outs? Seems like alot of them just saw pac and all of a sudden started liking boxing. Because they just dont seem to have knowledge of what the art of boxing is really about. Its like they dont understand styles make fights u cant look at how one fighter beat another, alot of them think because manny beat the same people floyd fought more convincingly hes going to beat floyd easily, they call people who dont stand in front of someone and brawl who utilizes foot speed to throw off an opponents game plan a "runner"... Come on man really? Its hard reading some of pac fans comments... Not all but most... Sorry for venting im drunk

Castillo clearly won against Floyd but got robbed by UD for Floyd. The point is, Floyd doesn't know how to fight when he got tagged on the ropes by a pressure fighter. Forget Hatton because he have no head movements. And Baldomir won the last round after he rallied his best as pressure fighter and Floyd doesn't know how to counter them but its too late though because he made that effort only in the last round. But Pac is different fighter from castillo and Baldomir, unlike Castillo, Pac is fast and he have stamina until to the last round. IMHO Floyd will lose this time because he is fighting a different beast who have all that tools to defeat him!
CASTILLO WAS MAYBE 9 POUNDS BIGGER THAN FLOYD ALSO BUT HE DID BEAT FLOYD ILL ADMIT!

BUT UHHHHHH MANNY MOVES HIS HEAD????

According to PunchStat figures compiled by CompuBox, De La Hoya threw more punches, 587 to Mayweather’s 481, but was less efficient, connecting on 122 to Mayweather’s 207. They threw nearly the same number of jabs, but Mayweather landed 69 to De La Hoya’s 40. And while De La Hoya threw 100 more power punches, Mayweather landed 56 more.

Yes of course, prize fighters will take whatever they can get in terms of money. I have no problem with that. There is however a limit to my tolerance level when I see someone purposely flaunting their wealth and fortune for the sole purpose of trying to get noticed. Big turnoff for me. Oh well. JAT

                    Boxer/Out-fighter

A classic "boxer" or stylist (also known as an "out-fighter") seeks to maintain distance between himself and his opponent, fighting with faster, longer range punches, most notably the jab, and gradually wearing his opponent down. Due to this reliance on weaker punches, out-fighters tend to win by point decisions rather than by knockout, though some out-fighters have notable knockout records. They are often regarded as the best boxing strategists due to their ability to control the pace of the fight and lead their opponent, methodically wearing him down and exhibiting more skill and finesse than a brawler[citation needed]. Out-fighters need reach, hand speed, reflexes, and footwork.

                    Counter puncher
Counter punchers are slippery in the pocket defensive style fighters. They use their well rounded defence to avoid or block shots. When their opponent throws a punch they use their defense to avoid blows and then they return one. They mostly fight at a close range; but some counter punchers remain at the distance of an out fighter. To be successful using this style he or she must have well rounded overall skills, a sharp boxing brain, and while blazing speed isn't always necessary, good speed at the least is required.

                    MANNY

                    Boxer/Puncher
A boxer-puncher is a well-rounded boxer who is able to fight at close range with a combination of technique and power, often with the ability to knock opponents out with a combination and in some instances a single shot. Their movement and tactics are similar to that of an out-fighter (although they are generally not as mobile as an out-fighter), but instead of winning by decision, they tend to wear their opponents down using combinations and then move in to score the knockout. A boxer must be well rounded to be effective using this style.

                    CONCLUSION

The boxer or out-fighter tends to be most successful against a brawler, whose poor technique makes him an easy target to hit for the faster out-fighter. The out-fighter's main concern is to stay alert, as the brawler only needs to land one good punch to finish the fight. If the out-fighter can avoid those power punches, he can often wear the brawler down with fast jabs, tiring him out. If he is successful enough, he may even apply extra pressure in the later rounds in an attempt to achieve a knockout.

Ignore these people. They listen to Freddie Roach too much. FYI - numbers do lie. Theres even a good book on the subjesct. "how to lie using statistics." Compubox stats are especially unreliable. Sometimes they are a great indicator of exactly how a boxing match played out. Other times they are misleading. I will elaborate. Have a look at the punch stats for Mayweather vs Chavez......very even...about the same actually.....yet Chavez and his team threw in the towel after the 7th (if i am not mistaken). Why? Mayweather was hitting him with the cleaner, accurate, harder and more effective punches.

Your other point is spot on though. If Floyd throws 30 punches a rd and lands @ 50% and the other guy throws 50 and lands @ 20%....Floyd is still going to win.
