BBC: Cotto should be considered one of the greats of the modern era.

you must have been in the bathroom during the round in which shane had cotto running for dear life and stunned. Only to have Benji Estevez (a fellow Rican might I add) to stop the action for a clean up on aisle 9. It was ludicrous. But when Shane slipped and fell the following round Benji just wiped his gloves and didn't bother cleaning up the canvas like he did for Miguel. Hmmm, wonder why?
As far as Rican fighters goes, Cotto is on the same level as an Edwin Rosario. Vastly overrated and could never step it up against the better fighters. He basically lost every big fight he was ever in. The Shane and Clottey "wins" were hometown gift decisions.Comment

Cotto is a B rate fighter. No way in hell does he deserve to be in the HOF! He collected vacant belts, got nearly stopped by the mental midget judah after he came off a long hiatus from the sport, ran to a decision against the elder ssm and the front running clottey, got tuned up real good against the tijuan windmill with plastered blades, and got destroyed against pacq.
As I have always stated, just becuz u have a solid fanbase doesn't mean you get locked into the HOF! Cotto= face 1st fighter who folds if he cant hurt his opponent or the fight lasts longer than 6. Cotto is nothing special.Comment

A very deatiled comparison of the careers Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton.

I used to think he was better than he is but the way he lost to Packy was embarrassing.
Total disappointment.Comment

The part in the fight in which your referring to, Esteves stopped the fight cause Mosley slipped, and than Mosley pointed to the spot on the canvas. Mosley didn't rock Cotto once, I've probably seen that fight 50 times and know it inside and out. You cannot name one point in that fight where Cotto was actually hurt.
And to claim that was a hometown decision is ludicrous. Any respectable boxing pundit had Cotto winning that fight. I'd go as far as to say that 95% of the boxing public had Cotto winning that fight.Comment

Cotto reminds me a lot of Esteban De Jesus. Not just in their fighting styles or nationality but in the way I believe they'll be remembered by fans in 20-30 years.
No one is going to be talking about Cotto the same way they talk about Pac or Mayweather, but that doesn't mean that people who watched him fight will ever stop remembering how great he was and how much fun it was to watch him.Comment

I don't understand how you can put a dude in the HOF who's a gatekeeper at the age of 29. If he started out his career like Morales and Margarito did, he would've sunk a lot sooner than those guys did because he couldn't defend punches to save his life. At least those two guys have stamina and a chin to make up for whatever defense they lack.
Cotto has the resume of a warrior, but he didn't have the style of one. And I don't think there is anything more true than that. Dude aint a top flight fighter and that's why he's going after guys like Castillo and Foreman. I also thought that Mosley beat him and the Clottey fight could've went either way. The reason I say that is because Mosley did more damage to him than Clottey did and landed harder punches.Comment
