How should he get mad credit for fighting these cats? Pretty much everyone in boxing fights guys at there original weight. No one ducks anyone because all the sizes are even or even you are bigger & stronger than most. Its when you star to move up in weight when guys start to pick certain guys to fight and Cotto never did that. Dont tell me that he moved up to WW either. He was always a WW, just fighting at 140

Whether he was a WW fighting at LWW it doesnt matter, He still fought guys at 147 who others wouldnt fight, He never made any fuss about who he would fight or wouldnt fight he just got on with it.

He never tried to use his star power over other opponents when he could have by draining them or having them wear some crappy gloves or telling them to fight him at 146 and a half.

Decent article but I can't say much for the author's writing credentials. The style made it seem like it was written by a child. They could also have been slightly more balanced in their approach. The article makes some good points though.

          You sound like a hater.

Cotto was a legit 140lb fighter, he simply couldn't make the weight anymore after being in the division for a while climbing the ranks. He got to WW and fought Judah, Mosley, Quinatana, Margarito, Clottey, and Pacquiao. Find me anyone with all those names on their resume with only 2 losses (1 disputable).

Cotto's fought everyone that makes sense at WW but Berto, Collazo, and you know who. Win or lose, I don't see how anyone can downplay Cotto. The dude comes to fight, that's all you can ask for.

This guy has won the respect of tons of boxing fans, even one's that doubted him or disliked him.

I think Cotto's comeback fight this year will be special. Knowing this will be probably his last fight at MSG, it will be sort of like a farewell fight. I think I'm going to go. I've followed his career since just about the beginning, and it was great watching him develop and become an elite fighter.

I will always be a Miguel Cotto fan.

Im not downplaying it. Im saying that is what he's supposed to do and its what pretty much everyone has done despite what all of you seem to think

great fighter...great resume...lets see how it all ends. Not sure he has got much left. I would love to see him get his mojo back cos I think it has been missing since margarito. He needs one more big win to cement his legacy as one of the greats of his era.
