Hasegawa is the goods, you can see it when he fights. I'd love to see him fight some of the other top 118 pounders.

Perez could have gotten up, but he didn't want anymore

Unfortunately for Hasegawa, Japan does not recognize the IBF and WBO. That pretty much rules out unification fights with Montiel and Perez.

However, Anselmo Moreno, the WBA champ, is a very good fighter.

The buzz is he goes to 122 next...whatever he does, I want to see it. Hase is the truth.

Yeah, I've been reading that a lot, and for a while now.

I'd like him to stay down because 118 is quite good. But hey, if he needs to move up, he needs to move up. However, I think 118 would still be a quality division if (and when) he does leave.

Hasegawa was clearly on the verge of touching the canvas, but it was not because he was hurt. It was Perez who accidentally stepped ontoHasegawa's foot. That off-balance action on Hasegawa's part was nothing more or nothing less.

After the fight, Hasegawa said there are pleny of options and courses to take. He mentioned several of the names at 122 and 126, especially Chris John of Indonesia. Ex-featherweight champion Takahiro Aoh has moved up in weight and there is a nice spot to fill at featherweight for Hasegawa. Unification or big time fights at junior feather are understandable and welcome by Nishioka. Hasegawa's next step up and forward is invasion to featherweight I am assuming.

Caballero vs Hasegawa at 122, what a fight.
