Where are you getting this quote from, if he did say that recently then its only because he thinks there are bigger fights out there and he would prefer marquez, hatton, and now has mentioned paulie, and for the record all harder fights then maidana. Despite what illusion's you may have of maidana being a bigger fight, those 3 are bigger fights in the US. Marquez is a pound 4 pound guy, hatton is huge money, paulie is an american with a pretty big name especially in new york. Maidana is an argentinian, who has one big upset victory to his name, one hbo boxing after dark appearance. Paulie has had 2 fights recently against juan diaz who is more popular then ortiz and maidana. Has fought cotto and hatton on big american cards. Maidana will never even make it to the b-side of a big fight at madison square, or the mgm paulie has. Your pissing in the wind dude!

Roach also said some months ago that he thought that maidana fight was a good fight, but it needed building up and they could fight in 1 or 2 fights. So I don't think its far from their agenda. If he vacated it would only be to fight for another title, or a bigger fight in terms of purse or/and exposure, which im sorry to disappoint you but the malignaggi fight is bigger. The whole situation with the wba is pure speculation anyway, im sure they will not strip khan, that is maidana's ticket to a big paycheck why would he fight someone like kotelnik again for peanuts and probably lose, im sure he will take step aside money and then khan will fight him later in the year.

Hey fellas when Ali fought Frazie4r the first time after he came back from being banned for 4 of the best years of his career he lost. Joe was the HW Champion and Ali was claiming he never lost the belt so it still belonged to him. They foguth in what many claimed to be the fight of the century at the time. Ali LOST and got floored for the first time in his career by a thunderous left hook in the 15th round. Ali chased after a rematch in the meanwhile Frazier went on to lose his belt to Foreman. When Frazier lost his belt to Foreman Ali could have said I want another shot at the title and it makes no sense for me to go backwards and fight Frazier any longer. Especially since he lost the belt to Foreman and I could get a fight with Foreman instead NO he still fought Frazier. He avenged his loss and put the story to bed about Frazier being better than he. That is the way you do it. Many said the same about Lennox Lewis that he is the only fighter to ever beat every man he ever faced. he aveneged his losses the one to McCall and the Rahman. True champions don't run they fight and they fight the guys the public wants to see them fight and they avenge their losses. Khan needs to step up. Yeah I'm not even sure Prescott could qualify for a title shot with Khan, esp since he hasn't fought anyone of note at 140 and has lost his last two at LW.
