Whether it be turning his boss down in a third fight for $10 million after beating him twice, going to fight Winky Wright in back-to-back fights for a little over $5 million or having an opportunity to fight Floyd in November 2006 for a career payday, $8 million, but instead he chose to get dental work done and take a family vacation after coming off a tremendous performance in the Vargas fight. Just a couple years ago after losing to Winky twice, he was fighting on an ESPN undercard and from there, an HBO undercard fight on Barrera's show. These are just a few examples of why he is has to be at least #2 on the list..

      The Main Points

      1. Turn a third Oscar fight for $10 million.
(Maybe because he knew he cheated in the second fight, and already cheated oscar out of money and a victory)

      2. Fought Winky Wright Twice for a 5 Million Dollars

      3. Turn Down 8 Million Dollars to fight Floyd Mayweather in 2006.
( To have some dental work done)
      .
P4P, Juanita turning down 800k to fight for 30K is still the dumbest compared to your list. I mean, the guy fought for around 90% of what he would've earned, lmao

You have to look at it from the era he was in. I may be wrong, but I believe most titles were frozen during the war. If he hadn't enlisted and kept fighting the talent pool would have been even shallower because of all the fighters world wide fighting for their countries. In all likelyhood he may have been looked at as a pariah instead of a patriot. As it stands, the country loved him for his patriotism and commitment to stand up for it even if it was only as a figure head. Besides the whole tax mess he was later screwed ith, I don't think Louis ever regretted what he did.

even if he made 5 million against Vargas his opportunity cost was still 8 million in implicit costs....its basic economics...

Yeah it was. It stripped him of much of his dignity in my opinion. Damn shame.
