The calender we are using started with 1AD. By Pac-tard logic, the fighter of the first decade should have been given out at the end of 9 AD after only 9 years instead of the end of 10 AD, 10 years later. I hate getting technical with you people but thats how the Gregorian calender works.
Are you SURE that they didn't just start at 0 AD?

Origin of Year 0 and AD, BC

Counting years according to our modern system was suggested by the monk Dionysius Exiguus in the 6th century and more commonly adopted in the 9th century.

Before that, Christianity counted years by the reign of the Roman emperor, or according to the biblically-calculated time since Adam, or Anno Mundi (AM). The AM count was based upon biblical passages. In particular, it used a 12 hour analogy, with Jesus appearing at the 11th hour. Unfortunately, this calendar had the world coming to an end around 500 AD.

Dionysius proposed an alternative calendar that set the year 0 to Christ's incarnation upon the world based upon the history available to him, and to the beginning of the age of Pisces (where new years began with the sun in the constellation of Pisces). Pisces, the sign of the fish, was linked to the first Christian symbol, ICHTHYS (i.e., fish in Latinised Greek). It also made the end of the age of Pisces occur close to an au****ious alignment of the 5 major planets in 2003.

This mentions a "year 0", which is inconsistent with your theory that AD just started with 1...

if the calendar dionysius proposed was actually used you could have an argument. but we in fact do use the gregorian calendar which does set ad 1 as the first year. whether you agree with it or not. you cannot change absolute facts.

Pacquiao tops HBO poll as best fighter of the decade
December 12, 10:02 AMChicago Boxing Fitness ExaminerTim Kane

According to an HBO poll Manny Pacquiao tops the list as the best fighter of the past 10 years. Seventy-nine percent of respondents picked Pacquiao.

Pacquiao has just come off the biggest win of his career, his stoppage of Miguel Cotto.

Pacquiao has lost in the past decade. In 2005 he lost to Erik Morales by a unanimous decision, but Pacquiao came back and knocked out Morales twice in 2006.

In the previous decade, Pacquiao was knocked out twice. Rustico Terrecampo knocked out Pacquiao in Manila in 1996. Medgoen Singsurat knocked out Pacquiao in the 3rd round in a fight that occurred in Thailand.

Second on the list is Floyd Mayweather, who is undefeated. He has 40 wins, 25 by knockout. Pacquiao is scheduled to fight Mayweather next year in what is expected to be boxing's biggest payday.

Third on the list is Joe Calzaghe, who is also undefeated, with 46 wins, 32 by knockout. Calzaghe beat the man who is fourth on the list, Bernard Hopkins, in a fight that went 12 rounds in 2008.

The HBO Poll results are as follows:

          79 percent Manny Pacquiao
          15 percent Floyd Mayweather Jr.
          4 percent Joe Calzaghe
          2 percent Bernard Hopkins

          ------------

          it's not even close!

You were preaching a month ago how a midget who belongs at 135 will get murdered at 147. Now you're whining. Tell your man to fight someone his size, not some blown up lightweight.

He was an animal back then. I really can't decide between them although the Cotto victory certainly helps Pac's case.
How can you be fighter of the decade when 1 decade consist of 10 years and Floyd retired for almost 2 years.

LOL your "proof" is based upon the fact that the Romans had yet to discover/understand the numerical value of zero!

The 2000s is the decade that started on January 1, 2000 and will end on December 31, 2009. It is the current decade.
The decade was distinguished by several wide-ranging topics. These include increased reliance on international trade, as well as further economic integration; an explosion in telecommunications and data communications; and further dependence on technology

*****s still hurting their boxer didn't get to win an award and don't even know when a decade starts.

Damn! what has this world come into. We have a boxer who thinks he is the best but will not fight the best out there and a fanbase who doesn't even know how to count.

I'm just wondering what is Floyd thinking right now? I know he feels that he is best boxer. But we are talking about fighter of the decade.

So guys you said that Floyd is the best boxer. So for source he won't fit on the fighter of the decade.

Perhaps HBO should make boxer of the decade so that Floyd can fit on that.
