I just hope Cotto gets another trainer.....Santiago may be familiar to what Cotto can do in the ring but to spot an opponent's weakness requires a seasoned trainer....

    War COTTO!!!!!

Cotto was never that special from the get go. Why do people have such a hard time realizing and were so shocked when he was destroyed by Manny? He was almost derailed numerous times even as early on in his fights against Torres and Corley. He was a limited fighter who didn't know how to adapt and change his gameplan. That's what great elite fighters do, Cotto is not that nor was he ever anywhere near it.

me personally i think cotto could have a little bit more like he did in the late rounds to accumulate points. he had a good jab, and should have been sticking and moving with it instead of trying to slug with pacquiao. still though i dont think he could have ever beaten pacquiao.
ok with his uncle he always had a great strategy and would get good advice in the corner...for example when he fought ssm he started off with the jab and outboxing ssm..then he went toe to toe with him...when he started getting caught too much so he started counter punching him...once he started getting tired he went back to outboxing..evangelista was a great trainer for him and knew what to do...cotto has been training himself and santiago is the trainer in name only...i think a big reason he couldnt take the punches i think was because he kept himself light after the weigh ins..im not making excuses it was just a ****** thing to do probably wanted to stay light to keep up with mannys speed or something but if you look at his fights with zab and ssm he looks alot more muscular in those fights and with manny he looked skinny...he was a beast with his uncle and the reason fmj retired i think he would have beaten manny

So....Santiago is going to keep learning from his mistake if Cotto lose this 2 fightsWhat Cotto need is to fight one more and that its, no mas hang your gloves.

Anyways I just rewatched Cotto vs Pacquiao, and before I say this I want to tell ya'll that Pacquiao could have wooped Cotto's ass any day of the week including the Pre Margaputa Cotto. Now I couldn't help but be utterly disturbed by what I saw in Cotto's corner. Joe Santiago is a ****ing dumbass, and he clearly shouldn't have even been in Cotto's corner. No tactical advise was given to Cotto whatsoever by him.

In round two I think he said, "all he has is that left hand you saw that"

How the **** are you going to tell Cotto that when Manny was hooking of Cotto's jab with his right hand?

Throughout the fight he was basically a ****ing cheerleader.
"we're with you we're with you stay strong stay strong stay strong"

            wtf?

The only tactical advise that I heard from him was "throw the jab throw the jab and back him up"

I know the Jab was effective at first, but it stopped being so effective once Manny started to time it with his right hook. The dude was a ****ing cheerleader throughout the whole fight like Roach said. Were was the tactical advise? I think that if Cotto had a better corner the fight would have been a little more competitive, and he would have came in with a different gameplan.

Now it's unbelievable that Cotto is still going to keep Santiago as his trainer for his next fights. That **** makes me mad. He is one of my favorite fighters, and yeah I am pissed that he hasn't fired that cheerleader wannabe trainer. Now I know you guys support you're national fighters; so my question is why not kidnap the mother****er for a year, till Cotto retires? Am I jk? I don't know, but I certainly don't want to see Cotto fight with that guy in his corner next year. Ya'll need to get a hitman on his ass, or something.

            end rant/

what ya'll think of what i'm saying?
I don't even know why you called us out, no one is gonna argue that, I said it before the fight, any Pac is better than any Cotto, period.

i have no problem but to agree with u. cotto is going down that same road tyson went when he fired rooney and took a rookie at the time in aaron snowell, when he fought douglas and had no idea what to do. cotto is all about control and that is ****ing up his career and legacy hes been building. i say this if cotto is real about keeping santiago. he deserves whatever damage he takes down the line. this **** makes no sense

Im not Going To Blame The Whole Fight On Santiago, Cotto Lost Cos He Couldnt Keep A Cool Head When Pac Connected And Didnt Listen To His Corner When They Said Stick To The Plan, Jab And Counter, Now Dont Get Me Wrong Stick To The Plan In The 12th Round? Plan Shouldve Been Throw The Towel in Now.

Cotto is too defense minded right now, the second I heard him talking about retirement and keeping Joe as trainer for whatever fights he does have left it discourages me and makes me feel like **** it whatever, I'm a BOXING fan not a Cotto fan, I love and respect him for what he's done in the sport but he needs to retire right now if he intends to keep Santiago. he needs a new corner and he can jump right back into the mix but with this team he has it wont be enough, he should fight a name fighter then hit the road, either that or change his team and do it right this time..

had he just engaged with Pacquiao and tried being more aggressive he would have had more chances to counter with something vicious but he didn't do that and even up until as recently as this morning he hasn't showed me any signs of trying to change that. I think he got 2 more fights in him but not with Santiago, IF he does have Santiago then call it a wrap after he takes his chances against the Mosley-Berto winner, if even that..
