i was being sarcastic but yeah cotto is set in his ways i noticed this throughout the fight. even in the margarito fight i noticed this. he keeps his head down leaving him open for uppercutts, and he was getting tagged by both guys yet he didnt make a simple adjustment and bring his body up a lil more so he wasnt so open for uppercutts. santiago should have thown the towel in in the 9th or 10th round. thats messed up because cotto is basically training himself. the guy is not going to quit so the trainer has to throw in the towel. i just hope he gets a better trainer.

I agree Santiago needs to be kidnapped and not ever heard from again. One thing I want to point out is that although PAC was countering cotto's jab with the right hook, it didn't take away cotto's jab completly. It was when cotto got into exchanges with PAC was when cotto got hurt cuz of pac's power and hand speed. If he wouldve jabbed and countered PAC while defending himself, it wouldve been a different fight. Cotto's lack of defense, stamina, and trainer got him beat up.

Anyways I just rewatched Cotto vs Pacquiao, and before I say this I want to tell ya'll that Pacquiao could have wooped Cotto's ass any day of the week including the Pre Margaputa Cotto. Now I couldn't help but be utterly disturbed by what I saw in Cotto's corner. Joe Santiago is a ****ing dumbass, and he clearly shouldn't have even been in Cotto's corner. No tactical advise was given to Cotto whatsoever by him.

In round two I think he said, "all he has is that left hand you saw that"

How the **** are you going to tell Cotto that when Manny was hooking of Cotto's jab with his right hand?

Throughout the fight he was basically a ****ing cheerleader.
"we're with you we're with you stay strong stay strong stay strong"

          wtf?

The only tactical advise that I heard from him was "throw the jab throw the jab and back him up"

I know the Jab was effective at first, but it stopped being so effective once Manny started to time it with his right hook. The dude was a ****ing cheerleader throughout the whole fight like Roach said. Were was the tactical advise? I think that if Cotto had a better corner the fight would have been a little more competitive, and he would have came in with a different gameplan.

Now it's unbelievable that Cotto is still going to keep Santiago as his trainer for his next fights. That **** makes me mad. He is one of my favorite fighters, and yeah I am pissed that he hasn't fired that cheerleader wannabe trainer. Now I know you guys support you're national fighters; so my question is why not kidnap the mother****er for a year, till Cotto retires? Am I jk? I don't know, but I certainly don't want to see Cotto fight with that guy in his corner next year. Ya'll need to get a hitman on his ass, or something.

          end rant/

what ya'll think of what i'm saying?
i disagree...if you look at the clottey and manny fights then look at his other welter weight fights with evangelista in his corner...cotto is a different fighter...evangelista knew his strengths and was a BOXING trainer and would have had a gameplan and worked it in training camp i think cotto would have beat pac..agree with everything else

I really hope Cotto gets another trainer, preferably Roach. I want to see him bounce back and bounce back strong. Cotto is still young and can still peak IMO.

yeah? tell me exactly what you think cotto could have done to beat pac? he couldnt handle pacs power, pressure, and combinations. what do you think he could have done differently?

me personally i think cotto could have a little bit more like he did in the late rounds to accumulate points. he had a good jab, and should have been sticking and moving with it instead of trying to slug with pacquiao. still though i dont think he could have ever beaten pacquiao.

As much as i want to agree..

Cotto's been taking alot of punishment in his career and recently too.

Margarito, Clottey, Pacquiao even Judah fight he was in trouble at one point. IDK what he has anymore after that beating

Larry Merchant asked Freddie Roach prior to the fight if he could put something together to beat PAC if he were coaching Cotto. Guess what Roach said, not a d*mn thing(I'm paraphrasing).

The truth is, PAC - Cotto are leagues apart. Just like there ain't no way Phil Jackson can possibly turn the Knicks into world champs with the current crew they have, even though they're having a nice lil run this season.
