When you think about how large and spread out the Metroplex is, it kinda makes sense to centrally locate the stadium. Kinda the way they did with the airport. Right in between Dallas and Ft-Worth.

Plus, it really all becomes about economics. Which location gives you the most money to construct your stadium there: tax abatements, property tax exemptions, job creation credits, etc, etc. In some cases, the municipality will even give free land.

Don't you think Vegas gets annoying from time to time? their fan base could extend if they fight in CS or in the Superdome.

Annoying if you are there? Or annoying on TV?

Remember that the number of people going to the fight (100K? 200K?) is tiny compared to the whole universe of viewers (3 Mil). So, I agree with RS in leaning towards Vegas. The experience needs to be maximized for the viewer.

Sometimes, I watch those European broadcasts from the huge stadiums, and it isn't all that appealing.

Conceived to bring a true center to the Las Vegas Strip, CityCenter was planned and designed as a community with a rich variety of retail, hospitality, and residential environments, as well as public corridors and dynamic public spaces where people can gather, relax, and enjoy the excitement and energy of Las Vegas. "CityCenter bridges the vitality of Las Vegas with the experiences travelers seek when they visit great cities around the world, whether London, Hong Kong, or San Francisco—spectacular architecture, culturally significant art, great public spaces, sophisticated hotels, unique restaurants, and incredible amenities," says Bobby Baldwin, president and CEO, CityCenter. "It is an evolutionary destination that aims to transform Las Vegas as a new symbol at its core, like the Guggenheim in Bilbao, the Pompidou in Paris, or the SONY Center in Berlin."

The 18 million-square-foot development also brings an important new level of sustainability to the Strip. The USGBC has already awarded LEED Gold certification to Aria Resort & Casino's hotel tower, convention center and theater, Mandarin Oriental, and the Vdara Hotel & Spa. Crystals also has received LEED Gold certification, making it the world's largest retail district to receive this level of recognition. CityCenter's remaining venues are poised to receive a combination of Gold and Silver LEED ratings.

            CityCenter's Grand Opening Schedule:• Vdara Hotel & Spa – December 1, 2009
            • Crystals retail and entertainment district – December 3, 2009
            • Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas – December 4, 2009
            • ARIA Resort & Casino – December 16, 2009
            • The Harmon – Late 2010
            • Residential occupancies slated to begin mid-January 2010

              1. staples center is beautiful

              2. nokia theatre is right across the street and could get a pretty penny for the close circuit

              3. people will pay $$$$$$$$ for tickets. just take a look at how much lakers tickets cost , you'd be shocked.

              4. people (and by people i mean rich mofo's) are more willing to travel to l.a. than dallas to watch a big fight.

                Agreed on all fronts, Tua.

Plus, the fan experience would be so much better in LA area. Everything from the beach, to The Grove, Hollywood, Sunset Strip, etc....

pretty much but i'm biased. i live in l.a. , i'll probably grab one of those nokia close circuit tickets.

                  fight will end around 10pm.

hollywood clubs are only minutes away.

fly in a few days early , check out the beach. this is l.a.

you can go to the beach in winter time.

                    one more thing.

i'm sure the governor can waive the state taxes for this fight on the boxers.

there's plenty of money for the state to get from this fight without taxing the boxers.

nah, dude. I'm a New Yorker who loves LA.

I can go grab a bite at Falcon on Sunset. I would stay at the downtown Standard. Chill on the rooftop. Go check out my boy in manh Beach.

Forget about a table at Mr. Chow's or Katsuya, though.
