Ortiz is cool. I really like the kid, and will never subscribe to the ridiculous and unwarranted hate he gets around here - even after the Maidana showing (which was a fantastic fight and a surefire FOTY of the candidate).

I wish him nothing but the very best in this sport, and I'll be supporting him 100% in his future fights. Get 'em, Vicious!

Listeing Pink boy, first of all, STFU!!!!!

Second, Nobody is hating on Ortiz, we are stating the fact that he quitt teh first time things got a bit rough. Cotto was in lots of war bbefore fighting Margarito. hell Ta the same age and at the same amount of fights Cotto was getting stomped by big puncher RIcardo Torres. Did Cotto quitt when the going got tough? No, he fought back and manage to KO his opponent and he was in a way worst shape than Ortiz.

Ortiz quitt the first time he got roughed up.

While I am not agreeing with either of you I am just pointing out smething else....It was more what Ortiz said after in the post fight comment. I thinkhe should have just left the ring and never opened his mouth until he spoke first with his team....lefty

            I absolutely, whole-heartedly agree.
People shouldn't be so fast to label boxers who put their health on the line "quitters" and talk down on them. There's nothing wrong with what Ortiz did. It may have been disappointing, most likely even for himself, but he's young, he has a lot to learn in the ring.

Now there are two options: 1) He will surprise a lot of you who will definitely jump right back on the bandwagon.
            2) He doesn't have what it takes to make it as a boxer at the top level and never learns how to deal with that much adversity in the ring. Well, too bad, but again, no reason to ridicule him. Unless anyone of you lasts longer against a puncher like Maidana, in that case feel free to fire away of course...

Vazquez, JCC, Cotto, DLH, Morales all this guys accuse of quitting, well they quitt after proving time after time they are willing to engage in war with anybody, anytime.

Yeah I think that toughness is an innate thing and him quitting the first time he was in a war especially with him dealing out as much as he received... I just don't see him responding much better in the future with that type of fight. Every elite fighter has been in a place where they were taking damage and had to adapt and/or weather the storm; Manny pacquioa, Shane Moseley, andre berto, Chad Dawson, pretty much everyone in the super six tournament, and every single one of the legends of the sport in the past have dealt with this type of fight. Even Mayweather who is constantly criticized for lacking toughness has been in a number of these types of fights. I guess we'll see but I think its a long shot with ortiz.d
