Silver medalist, but there are a lot of different paths one can take from Olympic success. Lennox Lewis ran with his but patiently took his time, Audley Harrison flopped royally, and James DeGale (or DeFail as my mate aptly calls him) is a mystery right now.

Chinny ol' Pacquiao, eh? He never amounted to anything after that brutal loss, the poor kid.
      ugh 1996>>>>2009= 13 years?
      ugh 40 fights?
ugh 5 different weight divisions and championships?

Khan was put on ***** street big time by a C+ fighter 4 fights ago. 4 fights against guys hand picked with minimal punching power.

And now all of a sudden people are claiming hes on the road to be ATG? Hes could beat JMM easily, hed stop Hatton, out point Bradley....Yeah Right.

All im saying is Pump your brakes, If he gets his ass KOd again in his next fight his career will be practically over.

Oh, I'm sorry about that one.

And yeah, Medals don't always mean that much. Olympics don't, neither.

        Just look at Cotto-Abdulaev.

You obviously didn't get my sarcasm. Pacquiao was KO'ed in his 12th and 28th fights, by a pair of guys who ended up amounting to nothing (whatever the circumstances may have been). He went on to be great.

Khan was KO'ed in his 19th fight. He has upwards of 12 or more years to stamp his mark in boxing. The only road in sight is a speculative one, but whether people want to embrace the speculation in a positive way or be negative and dismissive about it... ah well.

Khan is the real deal! Hes definately converted me thats for sure. Didnt Roach say that he throws 5 punches a second! Thats insane!! Speed kills.

I think hes chinny side make his fights exciting to watch too, he could be dominateing opponents and then, blam! game over. I'll definately be watching all his future fights

            War Khan!

Thats where we disagree. Theres no denying Khan has some the tools to be a great fighter. But theres no denying that as of now he severly lacks one of the most important tools that any fighter must have and thats a chin. He has shown us he cant take a punch so far and nothing to prove it was a fluke since. Until then in my eyes saying things like he has 12 years to do great things cant be taken seriously.

Haters can futilely clutch at straws and bring up his shortcomings all they want, but this kid clearly wants to fight everyone (disregard the Warren factor just for this instance), and seems ready to make the step and fight in the States.

A certain Joe Calzaghe, on the other hand, hijacked a single belt for a decade, waited until his late 30s to make the Stateside jump, and even then only fought 2 old men. So already I respect Khan far more than Calzaghe, because of how he's going about his career. He did the Olympics, had his share of youthful and "chinny" outings before getting trounced, and has since proactively sought to make a difference by hiring Roach and taking his boxing more seriously.

Really, what's there to hate anymore? He's amazingly fast, has an exciting and "risky" presence in the ring (the chin issue), and he now seems to be developing real power as he matures. He's also an excellent role model for kids because he's going about things the decent way by staying involved with youth activities, and not blowing up like Hatton or aggressively spouting ****y religious tripe like Hamed.

I consider myself very fortunate to have followed his professional career from day one, watching him develop his craft as a fighter, and not be rushed into things. There's something new in every fight, and I believe he is a worthy addition to the LWW division over in the States. Isn't this what boxing is about - young prospects who learn, make mistakes, have success, become champion and forge out a lengthy career for themselves? At least it's more respectable (and interesting) than Chavez Jr.

And as far as haters go, I can always refer to these 2 posts I made a while ago, which still hold plenty of ground...

He just can't please everyone, but the believers know the truth. :smile1:
