@ TS you had Williams winning round 1?? It was pretty even till the last bit, Martinez clearly landed the heavier shots and actually hurt Williams, Martinez being KD was a balance issue. He clearly Won round 1 imo and in that case would win on your card.
So what went down on here with Williams-Martinez?

Ah well. Put it down to the subjectiveness of scoring - I mean, we all remember that one judge who failed to score 3 KDs against Marquez in the first Pacquiao encounter (even though he actually had a right to do so, since the WBA mandates that a round can only be a minimum of 10-7 and not 10-6). It's up in the air.
Also, 10-10 'even' rounds are highly subjective. Some might see a round as totally even, whereas another might spot elements which enabled one fighter to pull it off. We need better standards with judging, because right now it's ridiculous - a clear winner (like Funeka) can get robbed even after a total beatdown.Comment

Like I posted I was being extremly generous to Williams. Ho would you rather had been in the fight Williams or Martinez?Comment

Well there is your problem. Did you just watch the fight, look at the fighters faces at the end and give a score based on the swelling/blood on each of them? This appears to be what you have done based on your posts.Comment

I had it 114 - 114 but I could see it going either way by razor thin decision. PWill was out boxed through most of the fight he simply outworked Sergio to win rounds. I'd love to see a rematch and see if PWill would have more time to practice his defense against lead right hooks since it seemed like he had a lot trouble seeing them coming through the first six rounds and see if Sergio Martinez tries to hold more to pace the fight to allow him to effectively counter without being swamped with punches again.Comment

No I scored it round by round being I was generous to Williams gave him most of the rounds that were close. You just don't want to admit that Martinez won it was clear as day, he by far landed the harder punches and beat Williams in every which way. If you think Williams won you are just being a deluded fanboy.Comment

7-5 for martinez.williams got beat up.he wasnt talkin all that **** he likes to talk after the fight about how nobody wants to fight him.when asked if he wanted a rematch,he was extremely diplomatic.dude sounded like a harvard proffessorI can only imagine the uproar with both the decision and the ridiculous scoring. :shk1: Me, I had it a draw at 113-113 (the first round being 9-8 to Williams), but could've accepted either man winning by a razor-thin margin. Anything more than 114-112 is bull****, though - and indeed we saw such bull****.
First-time viewing...
I trust most sane folks had that opening round 9-8 to either Williams or Martinez, right? Fuck scoring it 10-9 or 10-10. That's just lazy. One man was better in that round, but suffered a KD himself - hence, you've 9-8. That's how it should be. Actually, scoring any round 10-10 just because it's close is lazy. You pick a winner based on something, or at least eeny-meeny it.Code:W || 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 9 | 9 | 10 || 113 M || 8 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 10 | 10 | 9 || 113
All in all a horrendous year for boxing in terms of scoring, but nonetheless we got a great war out of it. Despite the sloppiness, I'd say it's a potential FOTY candidate, surely?Comment
