Why do people on this forum hate Calzaghe so much? He never insulted his opponents, never cheated and seems a cool guy. Yet everyday there is at least 4 hate threads about him, why is that?

cause he beat up a senior citizen and a shot fighter, claimed himself to be great, then quit boxing.

thats a ****** excuse, its a generalisation so it was BS to begin with but now its just getting old aswell.

i dont hate calzaghe or any other fighter. i do dislike him though, bcuz hes overrated. hes the type of fighter thats hurting boxing, cherry picks overrated hypejobs like lacy and kessler and washed up old men like roy jones. his resume is painfully weak yet people act like hes an atg. he was a very talented fighter but never truly tested himself. not giving hopkins a rematch after a very close, very controversial SD hurts the sport aswell.

i hear guys saying hes the greatest southpaw of all time, hes not even the greatest southpaw of his time.. casamayor, pacquiao, winky.. hes on the same level as tarver, very good but not great. not in amongst the best in his time and certainly not in the history of the sport.

Lacy and Kessler were the next best people in his division. How could he have "cherry picked" them? Wtf?

If Calzaghe would have done it against a prime Roy i wouldn't have a problem with it. Now he did it against old Roy. Three years after Calzaghe himself had stated that Roy was way past his prime and should retire. Thats just sad. It's like if Holmes had taunted Ali in their fight and then boosted about how he outclassed the great Muhammad Ali.
