a PRIME Hopkins, PRIME Jones, Tarver, G.Johnson, Dawson to name a few. Why didn't he fight them? Calzaghe pulled out of a Johnson fight 2 or 3 times if I remember correctly. Why didn't Calzaghe go to america and fight the best? Lennox Lewis did it, Naseem Hamed did it... hell even Ricky Hatton did it.

As I said before those guys priced themselves out, Hopkins demanded an extra 3m on the day the contracts were to be signed. Also there was the Showtime deal were Hopkins was offfered 10m for three fights and the last one would of been against Calzaghe and he turned that down. Calzaghe would of beaten Johnson, but he should of made the fight before he retired that I will admit.
I think though that a prime Jones, prime Hopkins and Dawson would all have whooped slappys ass.Comment

Off topic a bit you seem to be taking this Calzaghe stuff way to seriously.Comment

His fans are just absolutley delusional. Calzaghe was a good fighter, good but not great. He is not any better than Sven Ottke imo. He ruined the reputation of european boxing.Comment

By your same logic Mosely, Holyfield and every other American fighter using PEDs has ruined American boxing.Comment

Ok fine lets compare their resume's.
ODLH:
Julio Cesar Chavez(x2)
Pernell Whitaker
Hector Camacho
Ike Quartey
Fernando Vargas
Ricardo Mayorga
Oba Carr
Arturo Gatti
Slappys:
Roy Jones Jr(totally shot)
Hopkins(razor thins sd that could have gone either way, espn and associated press had it 114-113 hopkins)
Kessler(got beaten way worse by Ward)
Lacy(a c level fighter who never beat anybody of note)
Eubank
ODLH is a 6 weight world champion.
Calzaghe is a 1 weight world champion.
ODLH always fought the best.
Calzaghe avoided them and stayed home in wales.Comment

First of all he won't beat John Ruiz easily, if at all. No one has dominated John Ruiz except David Tua and that was years and years ago. The closest he's come to really being beat was Toney and that was by a cheater. The other wins were controversial or similar.
I don't see David Haye having an easy time with Ruiz. Ruiz even has the power to knock him out, or TKO him.Comment

The road is laid out quite clearly for the next three fights: First Ruiz (because he has to, as Ruiz is mandatory), then Hopkins (because Hopkins and Golden Boy wants it) and then the rematch with Valuev (because he has to, due to the Valuev rematch option).
If Haye gets through these fights unharmed, he will have another mandatory in the winner of the Chagaev vs. Meehan eliminator. Haye surely doesn't fight more than twice a year, so we'll be entering 2012 before he will move on.
And by the way, why should Haye face someone like the Klitschkos, like Tua, or any live hard hitting opponent, when fans and media alike will hail him as the new Ali, no matter who he fights, just because he is not from Eastern Europe?
Haye will do it the clever way, the easy way. He's lined up for free money, he won't give that away to a genuine challenge.Comment

Ok, I will step and say it Oscar was overrated. And why do I say this? He fought and beat Chavez when he was around the century mark and in the same time frame when Chavez was being dominated by a fighter by the name of Willy Wise. So, obviously Chavez was way way past his prime. Oscar also beat an old Sweet Pea who happened to never win another fight after he lost to Oscar. He also beat an old Camacho who has had a long career after he lost to Oscar but his only notable win happened be over a 50 year old Duran. Also, Oscar's record from 1999 to 2008 was 8-6 and sure he could beat the limited fighters such as Arturo Gatti but he lost to all the real world class fighters he fought. And it is my opinion that he should have been 7-7 because Sturm also beat him. So, I for one believe Oscar to be way overrated and no one did it here but comparing Oscar to multi division champions such as Henry Armstrong is not only laughable it is also a disgrace.
ODLH is better than Joe Calzaghe. he beat better fighters, always fought the best and became a champ in 6 weight divisions. That is all I'm saying.Comment
