The way you guys make excuses for Hopkins is sad.
im not a huge fan of either, but i hate trinidad. neway, i still think hopkins would win, and maybe even in better fashion. he's 40 now, he doesn't wana take fights with a HUGE risk, unless the money is right for him. hes gona retire soon, so he wants to get sum extra cash

haha. yea i know. he must have seen something in Carl Daniels and Hakkar that was more impressive than Tito's one dimensional assault. we all know how exciting those two fights were.
eastman looked like he was fighting underwater he threw punches so slow.

anyway. i think the point of this thread was to point out that Tito did pursue a fight with Hopkins. I dont think hopkins was afraid of tito either though. he probably just saw the tito rematch as his ultimate payday and when he didnt get the money he wanted....well we all know Hopkins. After the Tito fight, Hopkins did things his way and only his way. a regular frank sinatra.

hopkins fault allen 3 times because he earned the mandatory spot 3 times.

if trinidad wanted a rematch that bad a couple wins at middleweight would have forced it.

Time will tell, cause after he beats Winky, he will be the #1 condenter to all of Hopkins belts, and Allen didnt do none of that here is his record.

Fight ruled a NC after Hopkins was injured when accidentally pushed out of the ring by referee Lane, who was trying to break up one of the many clinches.

Holy ****! I didn't know that Hopkins got injured when the referee pushed him out of the ring. That is hilarious.

when I saw there 3rd matchup all I heard was how great Hopkins is and how much he beat allen up the first two times. I don't think they even mentioned it. it would have been hilarious.

Maybe Hopkins thought that he was going to be part of the next legendary trilogy in boxing. That's why he faced Allen three times. That was going to be his Ali-Frazier or Barrera-Morales tribute. A sure entry into the Hall of Fame.

It sure as **** wasn't because he feared Tito! I like Tito but I haven't seen Bernard more in control of any fighter he's faced since then than he was that night.

Probably had more to do with the fact that after dominating Trinidad he realized how ridiculous it was for him to risk everything and STILL receive the small piece of the pie AGAIN versus Trinidad.

If they really wanted to fight, you'd think Trinidad would sacrifice a part of his purse or persuade the promoter to make it a more equitable split.

"Hopkins did not want a rematch" is quite a misleading title. Of course he wanted to get paid the largest purse he'd ever received again; he just wanted to get what he should have.

Well, the thing about Legendar Nights is that the fights have to meet certain standards to be worthy of that series...not one of their 3 bouts made anyone's heart speed up a bit, so I dont think they would ever enter it...besides, it's also based on whats going on outside the ring where the fight and both fighters are concerned. Hopkins-Allen..was there alot of drama before any of their fights?
