If you apply that logic then Clottey should've never been the IBF champ in the first place, because Margarito had to vacate to fight Shane Mosley because he'd already beaten Clottey and Clottey demanded too much money when the fight was offered to him at first like he did with Paul Williams just now. Mosley should have the IBF and WBA titles.

come on man your hate is blinding you cotto has fought the best at ww and also he fought guys that the number one ranked guys didnt want to fight such as margs and clottey if you werent so blinded by hate you would know that. cotto is not the greatest fighter off all time but he has fought the best fighters in a loaded division over a period off 3 years and has been good for the sport of boxing because he has been willing to fight anyone. if the top guy in his divisions such as hatton and tsyu at jr ww and mayweather at ww didnt want to give him a fight you cant blame him for that

Cotto was #1 in the division and Mosley was a bigger name than the long legged freak. Made no sense to fight a no name like Williams insted of Mosley.

I find it hard for anyone to really dislike Cotto..it's like not liking Pacquiao..no matter how fuckin pathetic some of his fans are..Pacquiao is still GREAT..and Cotto has given BOXING fans fights to talk about years from now..

I'm saddened to see Cotto in his last year..but I understand..I just hope he goes out with a ****..I'd like his farewell match be against Margarito personally..just to get that doubt out of his own head..and mine for that matter..

Personally I don't think his head is right, he has entertained us enough with his wins and with his losses. If he wants to enjoy his retirement then I wish him luck. As for Margarito, Cotto should leave him in the gutter where he first found him and helped him out. Dont help the cheater out of oblivion again.

Wow, a lot of hate for Cotto on this thread! I honestly can't understand it. No one is saying he's the greatest and true he never beat a champion for their title but over the past two or three years he has fought almost every top welterweight there is. In most of those fights he was defending his title. Can the same be said about the great Floyd Mayweather Jr? People forget that Floyd turned down 9 million dollars to fight Margarito some years ago. He also never fought Clottey, Mosely or Quintana. He instead fought Baldomir & JMM. Cotto fought all comers and unfortunately his career was ruined by a cheater who beat him with plaster for 11 rounds. Let's give the man the respect he rightfully deserves. A true warrior and gentleman : Miguel Angel Cotto.
