50 years from now, fans aren't going to care about if Mayweather had a big boy mansion or at one point sold the most PPVs. They're going to look at who they fought. Pacquiao has a much better resume than Mayweather. You can explain a Pacquiao loss because styles make fights. It's going to be a lot harder to explain why Mayweather didn't fight the top welters of his era.
50 years from now people will see that Gatti, JLC, Corrales, JMM, Oscar, Manny, possibly Genaro and/or Hatton will be in the Hall of Fame I doubt people will care about the styles all they will see is the footage or who won and who lost.

Also looking back Floyd will have beat the last two real 147 champs upon entering the division, I doubt that would look bad through the prism of history.

Yeah, if he whoops Pacquiao and Mosley, then it becomes more of an argument. If he whoops Williams, then no one would dare think Pacquiao is greater.

There are haters obviously, but most boxing fans are frustrated with Mayweather because we want him to fight the best. We want to see him maximize his potential. He has the potential to be a Top 20 fighter or even a Top 10 fighter but it's hard to judge if he doesn't challenge himself.

No because he ducked all the Welterweights.

Is Tarver a top 10 ATG when he beat Jones Jr?

of course it does,he will be right up there,if manny supposed to be one of the greatest fighters in the atg list then pbf schools him then he goes higher, you will only disagree if your a pbf hater,if your a boxing fan then it makes sense, manny has a great resume but so does pbf

Personally, I don't think Gatti and Corrales don't belong in the Hall of Fame. God bless them, but it's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Exciting or the Hall of Very Good. I think Castillo is borderline but I'll include him for argument purposes.

Juan Manuel Marquez will look great on his resume, so will Oscar and Chicanito. No one will even remember that JMM was considered a little guy or that Oscar was a part time fighter. Hernandez is great on his resume because he fought a World champion after only fighting professionally for a year and won. He'll also get credit for taking Hatton's O.

Mayweather will have Hernandez, Castillo, Marquez, De La Hoya, and Pacquiao. Pacquiao has Morales, Barerra, Marquez, Oscar, Hatton and Cotto. I think as far as names go, Morales/Barerra twice is better than Hernandez once and Castillo twice. And it will go down that Pac took out their common opponents in legendary fashion (He retired De La Hoya, has one of the best KOs ever against Hatton, and although Mayweather had a more impressive performance against Marquez, Marquez-Pacquiao I and II will go down as classic fights and will be more remembered).

It's a good debate, but history is written by the boxing writers, and there are already grumbles that Mayweather has ducked the best competition. Beating Pacquiao would go a long way in shutting them up, but beating Pacquiao, Mosley, and Williams would definitely shut them up.
