And hopkins already DOMINATED the two guys Dawson beat - Glen Johnson (hopkins actually STOPPED) and Tarver Hopkins whooped him when he was King of LHW.

Hopkins also fought Calzaghe, who obviously was a legit LH fighter since he was the champion after taking it from hopkins and further went on to school jones.

So there are two things involved for hopkins - legacy & money. Lets take a look:

1. Money - there is very little to be made against Dawson. Dawsons last several fights, against Johnson and Tarver, did horribly at the gates. They couldn't even give out enough free tickets to get decent attendances. Dawsons ratings on HBO & Showtime were also very poor.

2. Legacy - Hopkins beating either Adamek or Haye would add tremendously to his legacy. Against Adamek a 3rd lineal title in as many weight classes, and against Haye he would do what only Roy Jones has done - but at age 45 it would be insane. Beating Dawson is similar to beating pavlik - two young undefeated guys that have not made a legacy for themselves yet. We don't know if Dawson will ever be a great fighter or an all time great, hall of fame type of guy.

To me, if I'm hopkins it's a no brainer - make more money & fight for legacy.

Stylistically, it wont be easy. Slick, smart fighters will always have problems with slick, smart fighters.

No disrespect to Chad but this will be easy. Chad's activity is that of an old man's. B-Hop has problem with boxers who are too active, Chad ain't that dude and on top of that, Chad's inside game ain't all that either.

He already won a lineal title at light heavyweight though. He would just get it again after losing it to Calzaghe. See what I'm saying? He can go get his 3rd lineal title in as many weight classes against adamek (that is if adamek is willing to fight at cruiserweight again of course).

I don't think it will be easy but I do think that Hopkins can take it to Dawson with his craftiness. Hopkins is capable of winning a decision against Dawson who is good but Hopkins has that extra stuff that Dawson doesn't have. Dawson is a physically strong guy with good reflexes but Hopkins will tie him up and stall the offense.

I'd prefer hopkins to add to his legacy either getting another lineal title at cruiserweight against adamek or HW title against David Haye.

I have no problems with a Dawson fight other than hopkins will win a very boring decision that no one will turn up to actually watch. I don't understand why YOU guys want the fight so badly - you really want dawson to look even worse than he already does? Hopkins style will nullify his output and his craftiness will be too much for him. Then the board will go crazy about how Dawson is overrated and how he only beat Tarver & johnson who were both past their primes, just like everyone did after hopkins schooled pavlik. At least with Adamek/David Haye there is more to add to his legacy, Dawson doesn't really do much for his legacy, especially if he starts losing to mediocre guys.
