You could say he got hurt, dropped but got up to completely dominate a Legend who has been knocked out but never outboxed - and he did it comprehensively, waved goodbye to the sport without a loss.

Green was beat in his prime by Mundine and beyer, both beat by Kessler, who lost to Calzaghe. Tarver and Johnson built their careers on beating Jones, both lost to Hopkins, who was beat by Jones. Calzaghe beat Hopkins, who beat Pavlik who beat Taylor who beat him. Dawson beat Tarver and Johnson. Johnson lost to Sheika, who lost to Lacy, both of whom Calzaghe and Jones destroyed. Jones beat Woods, Woods beat Johnson, who beat Jones...

Watson, Collins, Eubank, Graham, Benn - Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Leonard, Barkley... the list goes on and on... it's boxing, fighters win and they lose, it's inevitable...

            oh wait a minute...

RJJ is one of the best ever

sucks to see him lose so its better to see him call it a day and retire. He already accomlished everything he needed to in the ring. I'd like to see him anouncing fights on hbo boxing again.

I hope Roy fights for another 20 years. Anything to keep him away from the announcing table. I didn't think it could get any worse than Foreman but he was terrible. I've never heard an announcer so blinded by bias as Roy.

That said, I've also never seen a guy as talented as Roy in the old days. He never learned any "veteran tricks" or techniques, he was never a student of the game, he never had a chin... he got to where he got on natural gifts alone. Never seen a guy so fast.

                Good luck out there Roy

I don't agree that Jones is a completely shot fighter. He was unlucky enough to get hit at the very beginning of the fight, before he warmed up, by a punch he really didn't expect, and by a guy with a serious KO punch, and it's reasonable to believe that if he'd been hit with the same punch in, say, the 7th or 8th rd he'd have survived it.

Be that as it may, Jones could have retired at any time in the past 5-7 years, and it has ben only his love of boxing which kept him in the middle of things.

I really did think that he was taking a big chance with a fighter who had 24 KO's in 27 fights, but, since he was optimistic, then I was potentially optimistic also, with those few reservations.

For Jones to still give us the pleasure of watching his brilliance, he could easily fight on for years, with the proviso that none of his opponents should have a KO or dangerous punch.

Its sad to see Roy go out like that.Ecspecially after such a great performance against Lacy.If he's not willing to fight Dawson in his next fight, he needs to retire. No one wants to see him fight a bum. Its been a great ride Roy, but everything comes to an end.

This is some bull****!! Every one needs to watch this fight again and you will all see green's punch landed clean on the back of the head of roy jones... Then green used his hand to pull jones guard down while he was rushing him tryin to knock him out... Roy was robbed of his rematch because of a rabbid punch!!!! They need to have this ight overturned to a no contest and rematch... Roy should still fight on cuz he started the fight how he wanted and still looked sharp.. Green is a down under fraud and the ref was some **** for stoppin the fight... Wathc the video again you can see its a rabbid punch!! Keep fightin roy!!!! For a 40 year old man you look better than 95 percent of fighters out there and better than all the greats who tried to fight past their prime
