147 is the official welter weight...147 wont make it a catch weight furthermore, fighters re-hydrate above 147 on fight night. Welcome to boxing *******.

          • Manny Will Not and Im emphasizing this WILL NOT TAKE THIS FIGHT ON MARCH 13. A loss can derail his popularity in the Philipines which in turn can derail his political aspirations. I guarantee Manny will find some excuse to not fight on March 13 and Freddie will be stuck with his words in his mouth. it seems politics are more important to Manny than boxing at this point in his career and he will not risk the former for the latter...but if it does happen Floyd wins hands down

            • F*************CK YAH!!

now we get this fight even sooner than i hoped! both are coming off impressive wins. why have a tuneup fight in between which would only let the hype dull. i'm not that surprised mayweather took the fight on a earlier date. he barely got touched against marquez, he has the longer break, and why wouldn't he want the money earlier? i had a feeling he would kind of be a **** about it and demand some changes, hopefully he respected that manny has a life outside of boxing and that the date wasn't a huge issue. this makes mayweather look a lot more reasonable to me and less of a douche. but i'm glad this got put together. i say its a 5050 pot.

they lobbied to have the fight in march instead of may to accomodate running in the election. you obviously have no clue about manny's popularity in the philippines. he is a practically a demigod over there. he's more popular now than he's ever been. manny is just like anyone else, he's trying to maximize his earning power while he still has the ability, i don't think his political aspirations will get in the way of his boxing career, not while he still has the potential to make another $50-100mil until the end of his career. the only way a loss would lessen his popularity is if he loses in demoralizing fashion, ala marquez. mayweather never looks for the knockout, so i don't see him getting a KO unless he lands a REALLY clean hard punch right on the button. if he didn't do it against marquez he won't do it against pacquiao. will he outbox manny? there's a definite chance of that. but manny will definitely put more pressure and speed on him than marquez or hatton could muster.

even if he loses in devastating fashion, i just don't see a loss to mayweather as being detrimental to pac's career....he'll just be considered the 2nd best fighter, instead of the first. i think a loss would say more about mayweather's abilities than pac's inabilities.
