    HBO's Junior Welterweight Tournament

With the current success of the Showtime produced super middleweight (168 lb) ‘Super Six’ tournament, it appears that HBO also has plans of offering a tournament of its own in March. Four of the best jr. welterweights (140 lb) are in talks to compete in a four man tournament which will include Devon Alexander (19-0, 12 KOs), Amir Khan (21-1, 15 KOs), Victor Ortiz (24-2-1, 19 KOs) and Marcos Maidana (27-1, 26 KOs).

Here is how I would like to see it set up:

    Stage 1:
    Ortiz vs Khan
    Maidana vs Alexander

    Stage 2:
    Ortiz vs Maidana 2
    Khan vs Alexander

    Stage 3:
    Alexander vs Ortiz
    Maidana vs Khan

Winner moves on sucks. It should either be double-elimination... or a points-based system.

I need to see Ortiz knocked out twice.

But the main objective of a "tourney" system isn't to see who is the best (not really). The primary goal is to lock fighters in to your network and secure good, competitive fights.

To have it be single elimination reduces the number of fights. No?

BTW, Happy Thanksgiving to you Americans.

Which four other guys would you get? Remember that Tim and Lamont are SHO fighters.

If they are going to have a round robin then why not bring 2 more? But, just 4 that to me sounds like single elimanation. Winner moves on to the finals. And, that is what is going to happen...
