i just remember how people hyped and talked about lacy before the calzaghe fight. i dont remember anyone calling lacy a 1 trick pony

I feel you with the hype comparison, everynody's just so eager to find the next Mike Tyson so any big puncher with a peek-a-boo defense and a padded record of KOs is the next great thing. People are talkin bout Kirkland like he's Black Superman like they did with Lacy I hear that, I'm just sayin I think he's much better fighter than Lacy and that Left Hook. I haven't seen much of you and I'm not tryna ****ride like a lotta these cats, but from what I've seen your skills/technicality ****s on Kirklands. I just think Kirkland is good at what he does, he never stops tryna hurt his opponent and when he gets rocked he recovers impressively both physically and composure wise. That bein said gotta re-state that I'm sayin at this point that's my take but not much has been seen of you so the opinion could change after that date on Shobox. Goodluck with that homie

Is Showtime planning on televising your fight? I checked out boxrec and outside of the Guerrero/Nicklow fight I would assume that you're the co feature. Harrak is on the card who I have never heard of but boxrec looks highly on him ranking him in the top 150 after only 8 scraps. Still think they would show more than two bouts, I hope.

its a shame some guys come on here and try to degrade Porter just to be different, because they think some ppl are kissing ass when all thier doing is showing respect. Anybody who steps into the ring gets my respect. Btw ppl should show more repect to Jeff Lacy, guys got one of the biggest hearts in boxing if not the skills to go with it. He was a US olympian tho, so go figure

i seen the fight on youtube with Porter vs Daniel Jacobs, i dont know who won cos it didnt show the ending but it was a good fight, a close fight. Anyone who can hang with Jacobs has got skills. I see a lot of Porters fights and he uses triple hooks and great variety, reall putting torque on his punches...He's got power, skills, Awesome head movement....i dont know about the chin yet

Kirkland comes forward in straight lines, no head movement - he's quicker than ppl think, but so 's Ricky Hatton. 90% of JKs opponents are beat before they step into the ring with him, opponents who are not intimadated and just slip and counter will cos him problems

If the fight was 2 moro, Kirkland, but the fights not tommorow and by the time Kirklands out of jail his reflexes will be dulled and Porters will be razor sharp, so Porter

but that all depends on Porters chin

I don't think anyone is trying to degrade Shawn. I think it has more to do with most of us thinking he's still pretty green and that Kirkland has been in some rough fights and has been impressive in those fights. I don't see anything wrong with that. We also have yet to see Shawn in with some gate keepers or in a fight where he really had to dig deep to get the W.

A fight with Kirkland would be very difficult and a lot of questions would be answered. How would his chin hold up? How would he respond to adversity because you know a scrap with James would be rough and gritty. James wouldn't just stand there and get his ears boxed off. Even if he was getting boxed around he will still go in and apply pressure. Shawn would also have to show if he can box backing up because it would happen sometime during the fight too. I think these are legit questions and are far from degrading him. With that said, Shawn has a ton of time to prove himself so its all good!

well i aint tryin to call my boy shawn out but in his last fight ellis got him with a few good shots BUT shawn didnt even flinch and kept his composure. Ellis never landed the same punch twice. so far shawn looks good as chin is considered but im not gonna say Ellis has Kirklands power.

But im telling you watch the Kirkland v. Conyers. Kirkland gets caught up in swinging and trying to keep the guy boxed up but at the same time he is leaving himself open. Shawn has the shorter reach and better footwork and as soon as kirkland threw one of his crazy flurries Shawn could probably throw a left hook and land before kirkland could throw a straight.

there are way to many intangibles to judge this fight. On paper Kirkland wins but we all know that paper doesnt mean **** sometimes. so if anyones saying they are SURE it is nothing more than a guess.
