HBO probably told him to move up and make the fight w/ Bhop, same as when HBO told pbf to move up to fight DLH and HBO told pac to move up and fight DLH.
Oscar told HBO what to do. Oscar could have made a fight with Jay Leno and it would have sold a million PPV's.

i'm not saying it makes him any greater but he doesnt need to be called gay or anything. anyone fighting hopkins when they didnt have to or expected to is a man.
He fought Hopkins cuz is a win win situation. It was about the money not his legacy. If he won it was a huge win. But, if he lossed, he was suppose to lose and have a chance to make more millions in his next. Cuz everybody would of said the only reason he lossed was cuz he didn't belong at MW. If he would of fought Margarito, Winky, or Spinks then money making ability would of took a him. Like it did when he quit against the much smaller Pac.

            1. lossed but done
            2. lossed but done
            3. lossed in his prime
            4. lossed twice once in his prime 2nd lossed passed his prime
            5. lossed passed his prime to a bigger man
            6. beat a fighter who already ruined
            7. beat a guy who didn't belong at that weight
            8. beat a guy who was done
            9. beat a guy who was done

We can go with Whitaker should of lossed that fight, Quarter very close never gave a rematch but yet gave an done Chavez rematch, should of lossed to John John Molina as well.

Oscar is easy one of the most overrated fighters of all time.

Kind of sad it even needs to be explained.

DLH knew his role and what was expected from a person in his position. I don't think hes a great fighter, as he lost many big fights, and I feel he was on the receiving end of gifts,

              but bottom line,

              he made the fights.

Thats all we as boxing fans ask for and for that, while he hasn't been a favorite of mine in some time,

he will always deserve a salute.

Heres to you Oscar De La Hoya, win or lose, thanks for the memories.

LOL if Hopkins was a "natural light heavyweight" then how the fuuck did he weigh 156 pounds? And most all of his fights he weighed in at 157-158.

So You're telling me he was weight drained for over 15 years? My god if that's true what an accomplishment! Hopkins legacy is even GREATER if you put it that way.

I've went over this so many times - his first fight was at Light Heavyweight....in 1988 when he was fresh out of prison! He had no real coach or manager. He then took two years off and got into shape, hired a real coach, etc and the rest is history.

The ******ity on this site is unbelievable. www.boxrec.com doesn't tell the whole story ******s.
